Rita Ora has opened up about her hopes of starting a family with her husband Taika Waititi.

Earlier this month, the lovebirds finally shared details of their wedding day, which took place last summer. The happy couple wed in secret last year and had fans guessing when they had said 'I do' to each other.

To mark one year of marriage, Rita, 32, and Taika, 48, gave fans more details of their special day. The couple were met with much speculation over where and when they wed, but Rita and Taika have now confessed they married in Los Angeles on August 4 2022. They even planned their whole wedding in just two weeks after Rita popped the question to Taika while on holiday in Palm Springs a few weeks earlier.

After sharing details of their whirlwind romance, singing sensation Rita has now opened up about the couple's future baby plans as she admitted that she hopes to start a family sooner rather than later. On an upcoming episode of Running Wild With Bear Grylls: The Challenge, the Anywhere hitmaker said: "I'd love to have children of course when the time is right. Fingers crossed."

And after keeping her wedding well under wraps for an entire year, Rita has vowed to do even more in order to 'protect' her private life in the future as she told Bear during the upcoming episode: "Privacy, it has been an up-and-down battle. I have lived my life in the public eye for about a decade but I have learnt a lot with my personal life and my career.

"With the wedding we decided to keep it super close as we felt like it was important for us. That was something I had never done. I have always shared as I thought it was my job to share as I am a public figure, but you don’t have to. When you get something precious you want to protect it," she added.

It comes after Rita and Taika shared how they kept the numbers small on their big day. "There were about eight people there – just close friends and family, and parents on Zoom," said Hollywood film director Taika. He also explained they didn't have any table settings or any "stressful things" that go with weddings.

Taika, who was previously married to film producer Chelsea Winstanley, who he welcomed two daughters with, told Vogue: "My daughters were there, and they made everything really fun and easy. I think just because we didn’t have the pressure of having caterers and all of these things, you know, people turning up late, and all of the different moving parts." To which Rita added: "I felt really peaceful actually, it was almost like another day. We just all dressed up and got married."

The couple were first linked in April 2021, with their relationship quickly turning serious as Rita moved into Taika's stunning home in Australia. Announcing her wedding back in January on Heart Breakfast, she said: "I am officially off the market people. I chose to keep it more private and keep it to myself more but with my new video I am playing on what could have been. When the rumours came out is she, isn't she? I wanted to play on it. I wanted to do a wedding that didn't go to plan… that's not to say that is actually what happened."
