Priscilla Presley has shared an emotional message of remembrance for her late ex-husband Elvis Presley, with her saying that there will "never be another Elvis" on the 46th anniversary of his passing.

The King of Rock and Roll died suddenly on August 16 in 1977 at his famous Graceland estate at the age of 42. At the time Elvis was not married, with him getting divorced from Priscilla four years earlier. The couple courted for seven years before marrying in 1967. They then separated in February 1972, with divorce proceedings finalised in October 1973.

But despite the couple's divorce, Priscilla, 78, has continued to speak positively of her late ex, with her previously saying: "I loved Elvis very much as he loved me." The statement was released to E! News earlier this year, where she added that their late daughter Lisa Marie, who died on January 12 this year, was a result of their love.

And now Priscilla has demonstrated her love for Elvis once more. Taking to Twitter on the anniversary of Elvis' death, Priscilla penned: "Today marks the 46th anniversary of Elvis' passing. His memory never fades. Thank you to the millions of fans for their continued love. There will never be another Elvis. With love and peace, Priscilla," complete with a red rose emoji.

Fans then flocked to the comment section of the tweet to share their love, respect and messages of remembrance. One person penned: "I remember that day. We had just pulled into the garage from getting groceries, and they announced it on the radio. My parents were so broken-hearted. Elvis touched a lot of lives with his beautiful voice. Thank God his music goes on."

Another then added: "I always have miss emotions on this day! Sad for his passing. Yet happy we get to celebrate his life and legacy! RIP Elvis! You will always live on in the hearts of millions." A third person then wrote: "Missed having you—or any Presley—at Graceland today! Graceland Candlelight Vigil without a “Presley” being there is a big element missing for fans at the annual commemoration of Elvis’s passing! Come back to Graceland Presley Family! Missing you this week."

This comes after we looked into Elvis' passing and cause of death. The Jailhouse Rock singer, from Mississippi, was found face down on the bathroom floor of his Graceland home, where he appeared to have fallen from the toilet close by, with his pyjama bottoms around his ankles. In the years leading to his sudden death, his health had declined after prescription drug abuse and eating a lot of junk food.
