Pep Guardiola didn't waste the chance to make a brutal dig at Premier League chiefs following his latest Manchester City triumph.

City defeated Europa League holders Sevilla on penalties to win their maiden European Super Cup on Wednesday night. Youssef En-Nesyri opened the scoring for Sevilla in the first half before promising youngster Cole Palmer equalised to force a shootout.

Guardiola has now won 15 trophies since joining City seven years ago. As well as the European Super Cup, the Spaniard has also claimed five Premier League titles, four League Cups, two FA Cups, two Community Shields and the Champions League in Manchester.

Yet Guardiola insisted City won't celebrate their European Super Cup win with alcohol because of their fixture against Newcastle on Saturday night. The Premier League refused to schedule the game on Sunday or Monday, despite City's European commitments.

Guardiola is unhappy with the Premier League's decision and made his feelings known with a sarcastic dig after City's victory against Sevilla. His team have already played three competitive games this season, if the Community Shield is included.

Guardiola confirmed City will have "not one drop of alcohol" before adding: "(We'll) recover as much as possible because again, from Greece, thank you so much to the Premier League to let us play on Saturday and not on Sunday or Monday. Thank you so much."

City enjoyed themselves after winning the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League last season, with Jack Grealish at the heart of those boozy celebrations. Yet the England international has also insisted they'll be no big European Super Cup party.

Grealish was asked by TNT Sports whether they'll be any wild celebrations after City's latest triumph. He laughed and replied: "I've put a ban on that.

Do you think the Premier League should've pushed Manchester City's game against Newcastle back? Let us know in the comments below!

"We'll go home tonight and probably eat some nice food and chill. We've got another game in three days, so recovery and back to the Premier League. We have a massive game against a really good team, so it'll be another good test for us."

Despite being annoyed at the schedule, Guardiola was delighted to win another trophy. He added: "I would say of course we are not in the best, best moment, but knowing the players and the mentality of the backroom staff, I had a feeling that we will try.

"We are really pleased to have already one title in this season. I am really pleased for the club - this title we didn't have and now we have it. A tight game like this happened in the (Champions League) final against Inter. We also lost a tight game in the last minute against Arsenal (Community Shield). Football in these stages, in that moment, is a coin (flip).

"Now it is just one thing to finish full circle and have all the titles this club can have. It's happening in December, when we go to Saudi Arabia to play the (Club) World Cup."
