Disney has entered the collectible card game market in grand fashion, with its long-awaited Lorcana game launching to much fanfare at game shops across the country.

While Christmas may be a few months away, for gamers and Disney fans alike the new trading card game is already looking to be one of the most wished-for items under the tree, mixing the adorable characters of Pokémon with a deck-based card game mechanism like Magic: The Gathering

Early word-of-mouth about the game praising its design and playability saw fans so keen for a peek that American gamers queued overnight at GenCon in Indianopolis. Meanwhile Mirror reviewer Narin Flanders described it as magical Christmas must-have for all ages when she was given a chance to play it.

Finally now the first British gamers can see what all the fuss is about as the first starter decks have hit shelves across the UK with independent game stores as well as major retailers like Ravensburger, Game and Argos alike all stocking limited amounts of the Christmas cracker.

Initial demand outstripped supply of boosters in particular, with Disney Lorcana announcing via Twitter that they would be reprinting The First Chapter of the game virtually as soon as it went on sale.
