Emmerdale's Bob Hope has realised he can't forgive and move past Wendy Posner's affair with Liam Cavanagh after discovering the truth about his health following his heart attack.

The Dales stalwart suffered a heart attack after being overcome with rage when he spotted Liam with Wendy but, Bob subsequently discovered he has been ignoring symptoms indicating problems with his heart for months.

Wendy sought comfort in Liam when her relationship began to deteriorate with Bob, with physical intimacy a huge problem between them. However, in Tuesday's instalment, Bob told Wendy that his fury at Liam was not the only factor that caused his heart attack as he discovered erectile disfunction was also symptom.

But, as Wendy told her partner they could work through their problems, Bob refused her help and ended their relationship.

The nurse told Bob: "You know it wasn't the sex, why things started with Liam. I've told you this, you know all of this, about how I could be different person it wasn't real life."

"So you weren't snogging in the office every chance you had?" Bob quipped before she continued: "I'm not doing this again you are just trying to build a whole story around you being a victim."

"You had the affair not me," he spat as Wendy replied: "Yeah and you won't let me forget it. Bob, I know how much I hurt you and I regret that every single day but you've cheated on partners in the past and we don't talk about that enough."

"We have to learn from [the heart attack] and leave that in the past, the blame and the jealousy," Wendy urged but Bob told her he "can't".

"So you're going to make yourself ill every time you see Liam? You will if you can't learn to forgive me and focus on our relationship and look, now that we know what the problem is..." Wendy said before Bob interrupted: "I'm not being part of your project. This is my problem is not yours."

Bob refused to listen and told Wendy their relationship was over for good but, Emmerdale star Tony Audenshaw has revealed he hopes to see them reunite.

"Bob's very upset with Wendy. He's very hurt and really jealous," Tony told Digital Spy. "He hates Liam with a vengeance and blames it largely on Liam. He keeps getting wound up. We keep seeing angry Bob, which we see every few years."

"I do hope Bob and Wendy stay together, yes. I think you're going to see, over the next few weeks and months maybe, the relationship building coming out of the drama and upset. Obviously there was a problem there, quite a few problems that were tacit and not being spoken about. Hopefully this big dramatic moment means they're going to talk about the issues that they had and hopefully it might bring them closer," he added.
