Channel 4 viewers of the new survival show Alone have slammed a contestant who quit the show after mere days in the Canadian wilderness.

Viewers watched tonight (Sunday 13 August) as 19-year-old War Studies student Kian quit the show after surviving for a couple of days before he declared he had enough and didn't want to continue in the competition. Speaking to his camera as he battled the wilderness, he said: "My worries are just completely spiralling, I don't think I have it in me. I can't believe I'm saying this, Jesus Christ, I think I'm going to tap out."

After making his decision and confirming he wanted to be rescued from the forest area he was in, the 19-year-old student said: "That's it, I've just sent the message that said I wanted to tap out. There's no going back now. I'm not nearly mentally skilled enough to take on this challenge right now."

Viewers at home slammed his decision with some branding him "pathetic" as one commented: "And he’s tapped out ffs." Another wrote: "Yes Kian you are pathetic." A third shared: "Ffs quitting so soon! I'm shocked it's him," whilst a fourth commented: "He’s been there two days and he’s like this will shape me forever oh do one and grow a pair you melon."

Alone, on Channel 4, sees 11 members of the public pushed to their ultimate limits as they try to survive in the Canadian wilderness on the edge of the Arctic Circle. Whilst they've been put into the middle of nowhere in the Canadian wilderness, the contestants have undergone a nine-day training course to help them survive their new surroundings where they've been left alone with 10 survival items and no food. The first episode saw one contestant airlifted home after cutting his leg with an axe as he attempted to make a shelter.

This week's show also left viewers squirming at home after they watched an uncomfortable scene where contestant and builder Louie managed to hunt down a squirrel for food, and was left gnawing on the dead animal on screen. The builder also demolished the entire animal, leaving behind only bones, which disgusted viewers further.

He told the camera after eating: "I’ve eaten every piece of muscle of that face plus his eyeballs. I’m not satisfied, but it’s filled a void."

Viewers at home shared their horror at Louie's makeshift meal on social media, as one wrote: "Yes thank you, we don’t need that in close up." Another added: "The squirrel eyeball eating though?!" while a third quipped: "Poor squirrel."

Alone continues next Sunday August 20 at 9pm on Channel 4. Episode one can be found on All4.
