EastEnders' Honey star Emma Barton shares hidden talent away from BBC soap

EastEnders ' Honey Mitchell star Emma Barton opened up about her hidden talent away from the BBC One soap on Saturday night's episode of Pointless Celebrities. The actress, 46, appeared on the star-studded special with former Strictly Come Dancing pro partner Anton du Beke, who she reached the grand final with in 2019.

During the episode, host Alexander Armstrong asked Emma: "Now Emma, we know you as Honey Mitchell, but what about that singing? You revealed this terrific voice on Children In Need" to which Emma recalled: "It was a few years back now and I was asked if I would sing on the show for Children In Need, which of course I jumped at the chance."

However, Emma admitted she was "petrified" thanks to a major schedule change last minute, she continued: "They said: 'Oh you know, you'll be on around 11pm in the evening.' I thought: 'Oh good, everyone will have been to the pub so they won't necessarily remember it if I mess up!' and then I had a call, the morning of the show, they said: 'We're putting you on the first live act... on at about 7:15pm'... I was petrified!

"But as you suddenly see, as the song goes along about a minute in, I'm really starting to enjoy it and think I'm Madonna with eight backing dancers, I gave a wink to camera, I loved my life!" a laughing Alexander replied: "Oh that's fun but blimey, it was amazing!" with Emma responding: "Thank you, thank you! Coming from you with your lovely pipes!"

Emma appeared on Children In Need in 2008, where she performed live a version of You To Me Are Everything by The Real Thing. It's not just singing and acting Emma is talented at as she found herself in the grand final of Strictly Come Dancing with pro Anton in 2019, where they finished as runners-up.

At the start of Pointless Celebrities, Emma even brought up this fact, saying: "Hi, I'm Emma Barton, I'm an actress currently playing Honey Mitchell on EastEnders. I'm also quite well known for giving Anton du Beke his first tens in Strictly Come Dancing" to which Anton quipped: "And I am said Anton du Beke, gratefully received the first tens in Strictly history from Emma Barton and now judge!"
