England fans fume at 'pathetic' ref as Lionesses floored by physical Colombia

England fans were left fuming at the lack of punishment for Colombia players after several Lionesses were left on the floor in the first half of their Women's World Cup quarter-final clash.

Jess Carter was floored after Linda Caicedo ripped up the wing in the opening 15 minutes, but it was several fouls fans believed were committed on England that have left people reeling.

The referee's judgement of what a foul is has come into question by fans on social media after repeatedly letting Colombia players take out several Lionesses.

Rachel Daly, Lauren Hemp and Alex Greenwood have all been wiped out by Colombian players - but much to the shock of fans - nothing was given.

Daly was caught with a hand to the face but no free-kick given - a regular occurrence in the game from Colombia.

England have been patient despite being tackled in their most physical game yet - but it doesn't mean people are happy.

One fan on Twitter said: "This referee is pathetic. Everything going Colombia's way", while another said, "Replays make it easy to referee. The Columbian has just deliberately pushed a hand in the England player's face. Missed by the referee."

Broadcaster Carrie Dunn even asked: "Wtf is this referee doing?"

England managed to get a 1-1 equaliser after going 1-0 down - something fans would not have been happy about with all those missed fouls from the referee.
