John Lewis is the latest company to offer cut-price school uniforms amid the cost-of-living crisis.

Its 25% off promotion on its own-brand schoolwear range and ANYDAY budget collection runs from today to September 3. Some of the items on offer include a pack of two unisex pure cotton polo shirts starting from £5.25 and three ANYDAY kids’ school shirts from £6.75.

The discount comes as a study by the department store found 57% of parents are looking to save on school uniforms this year. Its research also showed 65% also say they’re looking around more for the best deals, with 49% searching for schoolwear that’s made to last, in response to the rising cost-of-living.

Recently, John Lewis’s primary school uniform won the ‘Best for Durability’ award after tests by website MadeforMums. John Lewis buyer Cydney Ball said: “More than ever, we know how important value for money and great quality is to our customers. That’s why we’ve committed to keeping our school uniform prices flat on last year and are running this promotion throughout the school holidays.

“With adjustable waists and longer lengths to our Easy Care and stain resistant items - our school uniforms are made to last.” John Lewis has also launched an exclusive collection of school shoes with Start-Rite. The Simply by Start-Rite range will start at £36.

The cost of school uniform has become a pertinent issue in recent weeks, with research by the Children’s Society finding parents spent on average £287 on primary uniforms and £422 a year on secondary uniforms.
