Iggy Azalea has been forced to speak out after she was criticised for writing a letter of support for Tory Lanez over the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.

In December of 2022, Lanez was found guilty of shooting Megan in both feet during an altercation in July 2020. He has now been sentenced to 10 years in prison for the incident.

During a court hearing in Los Angeles, Judge Herriford briefly spoke about the letters he had received supporting Lanez. One of the letters was written by Iggy. She had asked for Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson to be given a sentence "that is transformational, not life-destroying."

The Black Widow hitmaker has since taken to Twitter to clarify her letter. She told fans she has "not been in touch with tory for months", but said she does "wish him well".

Iggy also said that she doesn't support anyone. She posted: "The whole thing is full of oddities. My letter never mentioned anything in regard to what happened that night." The musician said she was told her letter was "for a judge only" and that she "never intended to publicly comment."

She added: "I am not in support of throwing away ANY ones life if we can give reasonable punishments that are rehabilitative instead. I support prison reform. Period."

Finishing her post, Iggy said: "It’s not really that interesting but I understand why it’s being sensationalized. . . See ya next week to discuss pizza toppings I suppose. Lol."

In a second post she added: "I really hate that this is todays discourse online because it’s not really an explosive revelation. Yes: he should be held accountable. No: the charges don’t warrant 5plus in prison. Most agree with that sentiment because it’s a reasonable take. This is not news worthy."

After a day of deliberating, the jury convicted Tory of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, having a loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging the firearm with gross negligence. The Canadian rapper has appealed and maintained his innocence, with his lawyers saying that his alcoholism was the blame for his actions.

Megan hasn't spoken about the incident since April, when she opened up in an interview with Elle Magazine. At the time she said: "I view myself as a survivor, because I have truly survived the unimaginable. Not only did I survive being shot by someone I trusted and considered a close friend, but I overcame the public humiliation of having my name and reputation dragged through the mud by that individual for the entire world to see."
