Heartstopper star Kit Connor has opened up on filming a "nightmare" scene as season two of the Netflix show has been sending fans wild.

The latest instalment of the LBGTQ+ teen drama dropped on the streaming site on August 3, as it follows Joe Locke as the lovable protagonist Charlie Spring and Kit as the leading romantic interest, Nick Nelson. Heartstopper has received critical acclaim since its first season dropped last year to rave reviews and was even among the top ten most-watched English language shows on Netflix within 48 hours of its release.

Based on Alice Oseman's bestselling graphic novel series of the same name, the latest series featured a school trip to Paris. Quickly becoming a fan-favourite moment, the characters explored the sights of the city and Nick even impressed with his French skills. The students of Truham and Higgs venture to Paris on a joint school trip and Nick is heard speaking French as he plans to meet up with his French businessman dad Stéphane.

Nick even places the group’s order at a Parisian ice cream stand, much to his friend’s surprise, and receives a compliment from the vendor on his accent. Despite impressing other characters, actor Kit was so nervous about talking French that he even had nightmares. He has admitted he doesn't actually speak the language and had to take up lessons to master the accent.

Kit confessed he told producers he could speak French "here and there" during the audition process, but only ever took lessons at school. He had to have a French teacher who focused on trying to make the actor sound like he knew how to speak the language as much as possible.

His biggest fear came during the ice cream scene as the script said the vendor calls his accent "perfect". Kit explained to HITC: "That was in my nightmares. The French fans of Heartstopper are going to see that and go… At least if it was a little bit off, they could go, ‘Yeah, but he’s English.’ But if they say that my accent is perfect, then it would be rough.”

However, when he finally got a chance to watch the show, Kit saw they had changed the vendors line to: "Your accent is very good." He confessed: "So that suddenly made me feel a lot better about my accent." Season two of the hit show has gone down so well with fans already, many are eagerly waiting for a season three.

Netflix confirmed on Twitter that the show had been green-lit for a third season, much to the delight of its devout fanbase. With production rumoured to kick off in October 2023, viewers could be enjoying season three as early as next year. Season two covered volumes two and three of Oseman's graphic novel series, which means volume four is likely to inspire the plot line for season three.

In the fourth instalment of the book, Nick tries to support Charlie through his struggle with an eating disorder, an issue which is lightly introduced in the second series. Volume four also sees the adorable teenage couple enjoy the summer together before starting a new college, which means we can likely expect lots of school scenes from the next batch of episodes.
