Simon Jordan has revealed on talkSPORT that he's recovering from surgery after being diagnosed with prostrate cancer.

The outspoken pundit has been absent from the station for a number of weeks, leading listeners to question his long-term role on the popular White and Jordan show. However, the ex-Crystal Palace owner returned to the airwaves on Tuesday morning to clarify matters.

And he candidly shared details of his diagnosis, admitting he only got tested after a chance conversation with a friend. He's since undergone a "significant" procedure, and now has vowed to help raise awareness of the condition.

"I've been in the wars a little bit," he said, after being welcomed back by co-host White. "And it might be appropriate to address that as there's a moderately important message. I'm recovering from cancer, prostrate cancer, and I've had some quite significant surgery two weeks ago."

Admitting he still had some way to go before making a full recovery, Jordan added he did not want sympathy but had an important message to send out. "I had no symptoms of prostrate cancer and had no reason to believe I faced any challenges, but someone very close to me did have challenges so I went on and had a simple blood test," he added. "And from that it produced results that drove me in the direction of significant surgery."

In typical Jordan fashion, he added he did not want a "Kumbaya" moment with people holding his hand, but wanted to prevent others from going through a similar ordeal. "I'm sitting here, albeit with six holes in my stomach, still peeing a little bit of blood, but I'm here and about," he continued.

"It 's one of those situations where if men don't take it seriously - well people are losing lives over it. And it's really really avoidable. What would you rather die of - embarrassment or this particular ordeal?"

Not that the eccentric Jordan, 55, was holding back upon his return to work. As abrasive as ever after speaking about his ordeal, it wasn't long before he was weighing in on issues such as the Harry Kane transfer saga and the recent glut of signings headings to Saudi Arabia.

And later on Tuesday the boxing fanatic will renew hostilities with promoter Eddie Hearn, following the explosive news that the Anthony Joshua v Dillian Whyte was being scrapped due to Whyte's failed drugs test. The pair have previously clashed live on air over the controversial Conor Benn affair, whose bout with Chris Eubank Jnr last year was cancelled in similar circumstances.
