Activision has confirmed the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 release date, with a short teaser trailer showcasing the game's official logo.

We've known for a while now that Call of Duty 2023 was very likely going to be called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, with the name and logo being leaked last month. And following the launch of Warzone Season 5, which will include a live event that will also serve as the new game's official reveal, Activision has now confirmed via a short teaser trailer on Twitter that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be released on Friday, November 10.

The publisher's Twitter account posted a short teaser video that showcases the game's new artwork, which matches that of the leak, plus the voices of notable characters including Captain Price, one of the main protagonists from Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2, and seemingly the game's antagonist, famous Call of Duty villain Vladimir Makarov.

Even more Modern Warfare

The worst-kept secret in gaming is finally out, with Modern Warfare 3 now confirmed as being the 2023 Call of Duty title. Whilst I'm not sure about even more Modern Warfare, I'm still hopeful that this new release can reinvigorate the franchise.

It seems Activision is doing the right things to turn the ship around, in recent weeks at least, with the new Warzone Season 5 update introducing big movement buffs that literally everyone, even Call of Duty pro players, had been calling for since the game was re-launched as Warzone 2 last year.

The new resurgence map, Vondel, which was introduced as part of the Warzone Season 4 update, is also a big step forward in terms of map design, as it's much closer to the iconic Verdansk map. For so long, starting with the dreadful Caldera map, the game's devs have been obsessed with making maps that have a huge POI right in the centre, which are often the highest points of the map too, which just doesn't work.

And yes, there have been some bad features introduced recently, including the ridiculous The Boys crossover which saw players being eliminated by laser beams from players' eyeballs. But, overall, it seems Activision is taking small steps towards a better game, and even though the player count is suffering right now, there's hope at least for Modern Warfare 3 to be a certified winner with the community.
