Natalie Portman has given a very telling sign of the future of her marriage after her husband's "affair", an expert has claimed.

The Black Swan actress, 42, has been embroiled in reports that her husband, 45-year-old Benjamin Millepied, has been having an affair in recent months. The couple, who got hitched in 2012, have been going through a rough patch since reports emerged earlier this year that claimed he had cheated on the Hollywood beauty with a younger woman.

We reported over the weekend that Natalie had been pictured without her wedding ring while on an outing in Australia on Friday. With the day in question turning out to be her and her husband's 11th wedding anniversary. Benjamin, who is a choreographer and dancer, was thought to be doing all he could to earn Natalie's forgiveness earlier this year which followed the reports that alleged he cheated with a 25-year-old climate activist named Camille Étienne.

But as Natalie was seen spending the day at the Angel City Equity Summit in support of Angel City Football Club on Friday, an expert has spoken exclusively to The Mirror US about what her appearance without a ring really means. Relationship expert and dating coach Kate Mansfield has said, in so many words, that there could be trouble ahead.

Speaking to us, Kate revealed: "Natalie appearing in public without her wedding ring does not look good for the future of her marriage, especially following the recent allegations of cheating by her husband Benjamin. Given that he purportedly was trying to win her trust and show his commitment to mending their marriage it is not the best way to go about this."

She added: "It is very rare that couples are able to rebuild trust after one party chests and especially so with celebrities, as the public stigma is hard to shake."

Since the initial reports that swirled earlier this year, People Magazine said that an insider has claimed that the affair was "short-lived" and is now "over", with Page Six reporting that Natalie found out about it back in March. Daily Mail then went on to claim that the couple were still together in June, following a source confirming so.

At the time, the source told the paper that Benjamin "knows he made an enormous mistake", with him supposedly doing all that he could to get the actress to "forgive him and keep their family together".
