Jennifer Ellison delighted fans recently when she said she'd love to return to Brookside.

The actress, 40, played Emily Shadwick in the Liverpool soap, before the tearaway teenager was killed off after falling through a window during a siege. Jennifer became a household name on the show, before it was axed in 2003 after viewing figures were said to be in 'terminal decline'.

However, there are now rumours it might be making a comeback, with Jennifer revealing she 'couldn't say no' and would 'go back in a heartbeat' if she was asked to return. So, as legions of Brookie fans look forward to the possibility, here's the lowdown on Jennifer's life now.

Family

Jennifer and boxer Robbie Tickle share three children after getting hitched in Mauritius on 10 October 2009. On 4 February a year later, the actress gave birth to her first son, Bobby.

Her second pregnancy came to her as a surprise with the Scouser saying: "I didn't even know I was pregnant until four weeks ago, and I'm almost five months gone now. I can't believe I'm having another baby. It's been a massive shock." In July 2013 she gave birth to her second son, Harry and a year later she welcomed her third child, Charlie.

The star recently told the Lorraine show her kids often ask her what Brookside is, to which she said she replies: "A Liverpudlian Coronation Street."

Reality TV

After cutting her head open on Dancing On Ice, Jennifer decided to sign herself up for another tough challenge when she took part in the gritty Channel 4 reality series, Celebrity: SAS Who Dares Wins, last year. Branding the experience "terrifying and unbearable", the actress was forced to recall the horror of her house "being shot at" during the physical and emotional ordeal of tasks set by top ex special forces teams.

When Jennifer was just 20, her house was shot at by a man wielding an AK-47. She later spoke about a "volatile" relationship she was in with someone she felt was "connected" to a "gangland world".

The star continued: "I was doing Phantom of the Opera at the time and I heard on the news that my house had been shot with an AK-47. I went back to work with the cast and Andrew Lloyd-Webber said they didn’t want me in the production anymore because they didn’t feel safe."

Jennifer explained how she hoped the SAS show, which she reckoned was "hell at times a million", would help her regain confidence after the horror incident and was widely praised by fans for taking part.

New look

Jennifer wowed fans when she recently posted photos of herself looking incredible in a figure-hugging black lace dress after losing three stone. The actress has regularly documented her weight loss, previously admitting her weight gain over the years was due to self neglect and post-natal depression. She said at the time: "I’d had three babies. I am happily married and content and the weight creeps on. I’m not embarrassed. When you sell pictures of yourself, people are going to be interested when you don’t look great. I’ve never got upset over it."

The actress credits her appearance on SAS Who Dares Wins, with helping her lose weight, telling Closer magazine: "I lost a stone since doing it. I've since lost more because it really gave me a kick up the backside, because the gym is daunting to me. I was scared of the gym but then after SAS, I said if I could do that, I could do anything."

Talking of her weight loss she added: "I'm down to 10 and a half stone now and I'm in the gym five times a week - doing a mix of cardio and weights. I feel great." Following the glam photos of the star in which she posed up a storm in front of her cream velvet sofa and in a pink bikini top on holiday in Turkey, Jennifer's fans flocked to compliment the actress, with one telling the mum-of-three she 'hasn't changed since Brookside'.
