Lizzie Cundy has revealed her unlikely friendship with a world-famous singer, much to the surprise of her devout online followers.

The British socialite took to Instagram on Friday to share a photo of her and Lewis Capaldi at a dog charity event in London, captioning the post, "One of the finest nights with the loveliest guy on the planet." The 55-year-old even included the hashtag, 'besties', suggesting that she and the Scottish musician have been tight for some time now. The fundraiser for the animal welfare organization, Malhew, took place on Thursday evening in the Romeo & Juliet café in Hampstead and was hosted in collaboration with Burns Pet Nutrition.

In the sweet snap, Cundy is pictured wearing a black and white polka dot dress with an off-the-shoulder neckline as she leans in for a half hug with a smiling Capaldi. Meanwhile, the 26-year-old chart-topper is dressed in a long-sleeved plain black top as she gives a jovial thumbs-up to the camera. He's also rocking his signature shaggy brown hair, while Cundy's chestnut locks are tied back in an effortless ponytail.

Fans of the mum-of-two were quick to react to the post, with many leaving kind messages in the comment section below.

Cundy's surprising update comes just a few days after she addressed speculation that her ex-pal, Meghan Markle and her husband Prince Harry were preparing to separate from one another – sources close to the Sussexes later confirmed that the online rumours were made up. In an exclusive interview with the Mirror, the TV personality claimed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were living "very separate lives" from each other despite appearing happy together earlier this week in a new video for Archewell.

"Meghan has been unusually quiet for a very, very long time. She let her husband go to his own father's Coronation on his own knowing that there was so much upset between him and his brother," she said. Cundy and Markle reportedly became friends after meeting at a party in 2013, but have been estranged from each other now for years. According to the former 'Grid Girl', the duchess 'ghosted' her once she began dating Prince Harry.

"When she first got together with Harry, I texted her to say how amazing it was and she did reply. But once the ring was on the finger, I soon realised she was off Twitter and that her number wasn’t working," Cundy told Grazia in 2021. "And that was it. I’m afraid both Piers Morgan and I got ghosted."
