The Tennessee Titans have released their potential starter at right tackle after having enough of his antics.

In the space of two days, Jamarco Jones got into two different fights with two of the team's defensive leaders - being thrown out of practice on Tuesday and Thursday with the team announcing that he'd be released with immediate effect.

On Tuesday, Jones had been blocking team captain and defensive line star Jeffery Simmons, before the two continued to shove each other after the whistle with them yanking at each other's helmets.

Jones was removed from practice, returning on Thursday after the team had a day off on Wednesday. When the team began practicing against each other, Jones was taken out of practice for a second time after getting into an altercation with starting linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair.

A statement on the team's official website read: "Jones was involved in practice field incidents in back-to-back sessions, including a block on Thursday that led to his early departure. It also nearly sparked a brawl with irate defensive players."

Titans head coach Mike Vrabel told reporters that the block on Al-Shaair which caused him to be removed from practice was too far. He said: "We don't want to practice like that. We talk all the time about being competitive and going to that line, and certainly not going to do anything that hurts the team. We don't want to see that."

Jones had been taking the vast majority of the reps at starting right tackle heading into the season, with regular starter Nicholas Petit-Frere suspended for six games after violating the league's gambling policies.

A highly-rated tackle coming out of Ohio State, Jones had spent time with the Seattle Seahawks as a reliable back-up, with a number of coaches raving about his potential.

The Titans have since signed former Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers starter Chris Hubbard, who is expected to take Jones' place as the team's starter.

The team will play their first pre-season game next Saturday, facing the Chicago Bears before going on to travel to play the Minnesota Vikings and finishing their slate against the New England Patriots.

While Ryan Tannehill will start the season at quarterback, rookie Will Levis will be working his way up, with the team spending a high second-round pick on the talented passer - who has been compared to Aaron Rodgers.
