The start of the Premier League is almost upon us and if there's one thing that can keep us ticking over the barren summer months, our obsession with transfer season aside, it's watching each team launch their new kits and passing judgement.

We've had some bold kits so far this season from the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City and some classic looking throwbacks from Liverpool and Everton but all in all most teams have stuck to a tried and trusted template for their shirts this campaign. However, when it comes to the brand of kit suppliers this season has thrown up a little bit of a surprise.

According to Sportingpedia, Umbro are now providing shirts for Premier League teams more so than any other brand. The British company is responsible for five team's kits for the new 2023/2024 season as Bournemouth, Brentford, Burnley, West Ham United and Luton Town will all wear Umbro branded jerseys for the 2023/2024 season.

Umbro has a special place in many football fans' hearts who still think back to their iconic England shirts from 1984-2012 and now the label looks to be back back bigger than ever as it now boasts five teams who will wear its name on their shirts for the new Premier League season. Next up is Nike and Adidas who have four teams each. Nike provides kits for Liverpool, Chelsea, Brighton and Tottenham while Adidas are the suppliers for Arsenal, Fulham, Manchester United and Nottingham Forest.

The next biggest kit supplier in the Premier League this season is Castore, who have made a splash outside of football this year by making attire for Andy Murray as well as the England Cricket Team. Newcastle, Aston Villa and Wolves are all repping the up and coming Liverpool originated brand this season and you can shop their Premier League ranges and more here.

Then we're down to the brands who just make kits for one team. Puma, hummel, Errea and Macron provide kits for Manchester City, Everton, Sheffield United and Crytal Palace respectively. The powershift to Umbro marks the first time in 13 years that an English based brand has stepped in as the Premier League’s leading kit supplier and while Adidas have oversaw a drop from five to four clubs, there was no change for big guns such as Nike, Castore and Puma.

According to Sportingpedia, Umbro has experienced major growth, after making three clubs last season to five teams for the 2023/24 season. The increase now solidifies Umbro’s position as the dominant player in the league’s sportswear market.
