Tributes have poured in for a "one of a kind" dad who tragically died from a blood clot on his brain.

Jonny Davis, from Rhondda, South Wales, was described by his family as a "big character" who "touched the heart of everyone he met". The 42-year-old had complained of migraines for several months, and was rushed to hospital after suffering a stroke in the gym.

A CT scan revealed thrombosis and Jonny was put into a coma, but sadly died in the early hours of July 15, surrounded by his relatives. A carpenter by trade, he had a "love for making things and creating things - putting his stamp on everything," said his partner Rhiannon Davies, 36.

Jonny started experiencing migraines last December, which got "worse and worse" and would cause him to lose his vision, she explained. He went back and forth to opticians, but they couldn't see anything and thought he was suffering from "cluster migraines".

Rhiannon told Wales Online: "He went to the doctor's a few times but they said to go to A&E, but he wouldn't, because we've been to A&E in the past and we've just been sent home. His close friend had a brain tumour - so I think in a way he was a bit scared."

On July 12, Jonny was at the gym when he had a stroke due to a lack of oxygen to the brain from the blood clot. He was rushed to Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil by ambulance, where he was sent for a CT scan and medics discovered the blood clot.

"They said they needed to erupt it - they said there was an 80% chance he'd get better but 3% chance he'd get worse. He was the 3%," said Rhiannon. "I just feel like nothing is the same anymore. He was such a big character - he was the life and soul of everything. My daughter is doing so well - that's the only relief I'm really having at the moment."

The couple lived together for 22 years and had a 10-year-old daughter together, while Jonny also had a 23-year-old son from a previous relationship. Rhiannon also urged anyone who experiences severe headaches to go to the hospital. Paying tribute to Jonny, she said: "Jonny touched the heart of everyone he met - he was one of a kind. I and his family will miss him so very much and he will never leave our heart. He was the yin to my yang, my best friend and my soulmate.

"I am blessed to have spent 22 years of my life with him, and sharing my life with him has made me and our daughter the people we are today. She was the the apple of his eye. His presence will be missed in our life every day. Rhiannon, his son and daughter will do him proud."

Jonny is survived by his partner Rhiannon, his daughter, his son, his mum, his dad and his brother. You can donate to the fundraiser to support his family here. According to the Stroke Association there is a new case every five minutes in the UK, with 100,000 people suffering from one each year.
