A lucky man has thanked famous rapper Post Malone after he scooped $100,000 on a lottery scratch card during a loo break on the way home from his concert.

Zachary Sharpe said he and his family had travelled to the city of Charlotte for their favourite artist's concert on Saturday, July 26. But they were forced to drive back home much later than initially planned, as the concert was delayed due to a severe storm.

While on the way home, they reportedly made a stop at the Sheetz store in the city of Lexington, where Zachary bought several $30 Black Titanium tickets.

He said he was startled when he uncovered a $300 prize on his first ticket, which was followed by an astonishing $100,000 on the second one.

Lottery luck in a loo

Zachary, from the city of Thomasville, in the US state of North Carolina, said in a statement from North Carolina Education Lottery: "I think about all of the factors that played into when I got to that store. It was the perfect storm. We stopped so they could use the restroom. I bought a couple tickets and started scratching.

"I bought I think it was three tickets, and the first one I scratched off I won $300 and I was pretty excited about that. And then I started to scratch the second one, and I checked it. We all just looked at each other like 'I can't even believe this. When I scratched it off I about passed out. I was literally speechless. We all were."

The lucky lad collected $71,259 after state and federal taxes at lottery headquarters on Monday, July 31. Commenting on how the concert went, he said: "It was incredible. He puts on a wonderful show. It was a wonderful day. One of the best days of my life. All this is thanks to Post Malone!" He revealed he plans to use the money to pay bills, take a holiday, and save the remainder.

North Carolina Education Lottery officials said: "The Black Titanium game debuted last month with six $4 million prizes and 16 $100,000 prizes. "Five $4million prizes and 12 $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed."

How not to spend your lottery winnings

Let's hope he invests his winnings better than Ronnie Music Jr, a man from Waycross, Georgia. He scooped £2.4million in the lottery before he was caught investing his winnings in a crystal meth gang. After winning in 2015, instead of using the money wisely, he invested part of it in a methamphetamine trafficking ring and got involved in multi-state drug trafficking.

Music Jr was also convicted of being a felon in possession of firearms. He fronted a drug ring being run from a Georgia prison and later cooperated with federal agents in providing information about the drug trafficking operations.

It was operated through a connection between inmates in a prison, led by Daniel Alo, and external members, including Music Jr.

Another lottery winner who bagged a whopping $10million and lost it all in just 10 years says that she's discovered the saying "money is the root of all evil" is true.

Sharon Tirabassi, 35, from Hamilton in Ontario bought a Lotto Super 7 ticket on April 2004 weekend when she instantly became a millionaire overnight. It was beyond her wildest dreams, especially growing up in different homeless shelters, as she believed the money would last forever.
