Ditch your laptop for Samsung's newest S9 tablet

Samsung's latest tablet models were unveiled to the world from the heart of South Korea at the 2023 Galaxy Unpacked event. Now just hours old the Tab S9 series is proving to be at the top of the industry's game, so much so it'll likely outrun your current laptop.

That's because the new Galaxy Tab S9, S9+ and S9 Ultra are fitted with Qualcomm's uniquely powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, the same chip fitted into its new range of Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 smartphones. That's not the only similar feature as all S9 devices come with the S Pen Stylus, a huge selling point for creatives.

Prices start at £799 for the standard S9, £999 for the S9+ and £1,199 for the biggest S9 Ultra device, the one which has caught many shoppers' eyes. So much so that tech experts are batting the newest device against rival competitors, Apple.

As the biggest device in the range, the Tab S9 Ultra has a 14.6-inch display screen completely overshadowing the smallest Macbook Air, the usually popular go-to laptop for professionals and students getting ready for the back-to-school term.

So how would one of Samsung's newest devices fare up in the lecture hall or classroom? Thanks to all three devices' AMOLED 120Hz screens the imaging is crisp and precise no matter what software is used. This integrated piece of tech is key to getting rid of any blurry, glitchy content.

The S9 range is a lot sturdier than rival brands too thanks to its IP68 water-resistant rating, if for whatever reason they did come into contact with water any stored content on the device (and its structure) would likely come out unscathed.

Back-to-school shoppers are likely to be enticed by the brand's whole new range of accessories for tablets too, including attachable keyboards which make the devices look and feel more like a laptop, but easier to move around.

Samsung's new NotePaper Screens are another newly launched accessory and are available to buy for around £50. This attachable 'screen' is made for the S Pen Stylus and allows users to write as they would in a notebook but is automatically saved to the Tab S9 Ultra device.

Screen protectors, tablet covers and privacy screens are just a few of the other tech accessories to go alongside the new products. And anyone who pre-ordered would get a £150 code to use on accessories bought with any new Galaxy Unpacked device, which is why clicking that code was crucial.
