Inside Daredevil's 'final conversation' before falling 68 floors to his death

A photographer's final conversation before plummeting 68 floors to his death while trying to take a snap on a skyscraper has been revealed.

Remi Lucidi's tragic accident happened while he was on holiday in Hong Kong last week. The 30-year-old man slipped when he tried to pose for a photo on the Trengunter Tower complex, despite desperately banging on windows to try to get anyone's attention.

Now, details of a conversation Mr Lucidi had with staff at his hostel, near the skyscraper, have emerged. One night shift worker, who declined to be named, said today: "He told me he was going to hike a mountain when I asked where he was going. He said he wanted to hike a lot when he was here."

Gurjit Kaur, who owns the hostel, described the daredevil snapper as a "friendly and humble guy". He was healthy and fit and happy faced. I feel very sad." Over the years, Mr Lucidi had amassed a social media following for his daredevil stunts, including poses at the top of high-rise scaffolding and buildings in Dubai, Bulgaria and France. Police found Mr Lucidi's sports camera, which contained videos of extreme sports, after searching his belongings in the hostel after the tragedy.

Officers said today Mr Lucidi, who was French, told Trengunter Tower's security he was going to visit a friend on the 40th floor of the building, but the guard later discovered Mr Lucidi did not have a friend staying in the building.

He actually used the lift to reach the 49th floor, surveillance footage shows. He then took the stairs and reached the top of the building. The door leading to the roof was locked but the tourist forcefully opened it, aiming to take a picture of the roof.

The accident happened soon afterwards, although Mr Lucidi asked for help by tapping on windows on the top of the builder. A maid who heard the noise was so scared she called the police.

Mr Lucidi was supposed to return for France on Sunday, authorities said. Shortly before his death, Mr Lucidi had posted online a photo of the Hong Kong skyline. An official cause of death has not yet been recorded.
