Joe Burrow to perform U-turn on appearing in Netflix show 'Quarterback'
Joe Burrow could be about to perform a U-turn after initially ruling out appearing in the second series of the hugely popular Netflix show Quarterback.
The Cincinnati Bengals star said last week he is open-minded to appear on the fly-on-the-wall show in the future, but not for the 2023 season. However, he could have very quickly changed his mind, according to a peculiar report from Peter King.
King is one of the most revered and well-connected writers in the sport, and in his Football Morning In America column on Monday, he offered his thoughts on the show, which has lingered around the top of the charts on the streaming platform since it debuted on July 12.
King called for the second series to be more immersive, focusing deeper on the life of a quarterback rather than the external noise of pundits on talk shows, and added: "I hold out hope for the next season to be even more inside, starting with the calf injury to 2023 series participant Joe Burrow."
That line was edited in his column shortly after it was published, with any mention of Burrow removed from the section on the Netflix show. No clarification has been added in the text and King has not explained the change on social media.

Given his usual accuracy, it would be rare for him to make such a mistake, but it is not impossible. Alternatively, King could have revealed information ahead of time and hastily backtracked. Or perhaps there is another explanation? It is certainly a situation to keep an eye on with the series confirmed for a second series that will be released next summer.

The show, produced by NFL Films in conjunction with two-time Super Bowl winner Peyton Manning's Omaha Productions, followed the players' professional and personal lives, all the way to Super Bowl glory in Mahomes' case.
After becoming an instant success, the show is returning next year, but the cast of quarterbacks is yet to be confirmed, with multiple players turning down the offer to feature. Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles, Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins, Matthew Stafford of the Los Angeles Rams and Sam Howell of the Washington Commanders have all declined the opportunity to take part.
Chicago Bears, Baltimore Ravens, Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys starters Justin Fields, Lamar Jackson, Geno Smith and Dak Prescott have also distanced themselves from allowing the cameras to follow them behind the scenes, but if Burrow has been tempted to reverse his decision, it would represent a massive coup for the show's producers.
The 26-year-old, who is cu rrently out of training camp with a calf injury, is one of the league's best players and personalities and he would certainly provide intriguing viewing.
