Lucy Spraggan was left shaken after her book signing abruptly ended due to a fire evacuation. The singer was taking part in a book signing at House Of Books & Friends bookshop on Kings Street in Manchester before she was rushed out of the store.

As the alarm sounded and fire engines arrived, Lucy was spotted with her security guard and girlfriend before she was ushered into Lucky Cat restaurant. The former X Factor star is currently promoting her new book Process: Finding My Way Through, where she details how she was treated following her sexual assault.

Lucy recently revealed she was raped by a hotel porter during her time on The X Factor in 2012, aged 20. The now 32-year-old said the rape happened after a night celebrating fellow contestant Rylan Clark's 25th birthday at the Mayfair nightclub Mahiki, which was attended by the X Factor crew.

Lucy explained that she passed out and was taken back to the hotel by a member of the production team, where hotel porter Soby John offered to help get Spraggan to her room. The porter then flipped the security latch on her door as they left to prevent it locking behind them.

Later on Rylan, who recently shared a heartfelt message to the singer, went to check on an unconscious Lucy and made sure her door was locked before he left. But, when the porter returned to Spraggan’s room to attack her, he had to use a traceable keycard due to the door then being locked.

Lucy's attacker was arrested and later jailed for 10 years in April 2013. Speaking on Lorraine, Lucy praised "amazing" Rylan as she revealed she had learnt new information earlier this week, which played a "pivotal" part of convicting her rapist.

Lucy told guest host Christine Lampard: "I'm learning more and more since I released the book, I'm actually learning more and more about the realities of what happened. People are telling me new bits of information here and there. Rylan was incredible, he was the first person I told, he organised everything.

"He contacted the police, he was amazing, and very recently, earlier this week, I found out that he literally went and guarded the room so that nobody could change the room so that evidence would stay where it was. I only learnt this week that Rylan was an absolute pivotal part of there being a conviction."

Lucy recently opened up about how the attack impacted the next decade of her life. She told The Guardian: "I woke up the next day with this sense of sheer dread. I don’t think I’ve ever felt that level of confusion since. I knew that I’d been raped, but I could not process that. So I put my clothes on and went into autopilot."

Despite the production team calling the police and an arrest being made quickly, Lucy said she didn't think they were prepared to deal with the situation. Lucy was given financial and medical support in the immediate aftermath of the crime, but she said she wasn't supported after the trial.

She said: "No one ever contacted me to ask if I was OK. No one called or emailed when the trial was over and he was convicted. No one offered me rehabilitation or ongoing mental health treatment. I was on my own." Lucy has recalled X Factor boss Simon Cowell apologising to her after he learned of the attack.
