More evidence towards the Red Dead Redemption remaster has shown up, with one tidbit possibly spelling bad news for the project.

Rumours of a Red Dead Redemption remaster first cropped up around a month ago, when a South Korean ratings board listed the game and since then the evidence has been mounting towards it being the real deal. Rockstar Games insider Tez2 noticed some changes being made to the Rockstar website, with a reference to "Red Dead Redemption (Rockstar Presents Ver)" being added within the site's games list. This was backed up by a new logo for the game reading "Rockstar Games Presents Red Dead Redemption".

Tez2 quickly took to Twitter to show off their findings, which included a codename 'RDR1RSP' which they theorized could mean Red Dead Redemption 1 Remaster SP, although replies to the Tweet quickly pointed out that RSP could just mean Rockstar Presents.

Not long after their initial Tweet Tez2 posted another tweet as they'd noticed more changes to the Red Dead Redemption site. A button was added for Nintendo Switch alongside the other platforms, and while Tez2 notes that this may not be indicative of platform availability it's definitely an interesting thing to note.

You Have Got To Keep Faith

Obviously nothing is confirmed yet so there's no use in worrying, but if this Red Dead Redemption remaster is to release on Nintendo Switch, I'm a bit worried about it. Whenever anyone talks about a remaster of Red Dead Redemption, the idea is to bring the first game up to the same quality as Red Dead Redemption 2 graphically. But considering the PS4 and Xbox One struggled to run Red Dead Redemption 2 in some places, I don't think Nintendo Switch has much of a chance.

The only Rockstar Games title to have ever released on Nintendo Switch is GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, which turned out to be a mess (and those titles were from the early 2000s). Not only was it ugly, it just felt like an inferior version of the original PS2 games, so a similarly messed up version of the original Red Dead Redemption isn't an ideal thought.

That being said I would take a straight port of the Xbox 360 and PS3 version at this point. Simply having a way to play the game on PC and PS5 would be fantastic. Red Dead Redemption is one arguably the best game Rockstar Games has ever made, so more players being able to experience this classic is a plus in any regard.
