Anthony Joshua plans to beat Dillian Whyte and Deontay Wilder to set up a world title fight with domestic rival Tyson Fury.

Former two-time heavyweight champion Joshua, 33, is gearing up for his rematch against Whyte on August 12 at The O2 arena. A win against his familiar foe will set up a big money fight against Wilder at the end of the year in Saudi Arabia, but his promoter Eddie Hearn has admitted 'AJ' could find himself in no man's land with a loss to Whyte.

Fury looked set to meet fellow heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk in a highly-anticipated undisputed fight on the same card as Joshua vs Wilder, but the fight recently fell through again. 'The Gypsy King' will now face former UFC champion Francis Ngannou in October, a decision that has been heavily criticised by fans with Hearn also having the same view on the fight.

"I think it's a lot of things, I think Tyson Fury... I don't want to say he's being found out but he is not always as truthful as he appears on Instagram. Timing is something, I think television rights and partnerships are something, Instagram is something and ego very much is as well," Hearn said on Piers Morgan Uncensored.

"Everybody wants to see this fight [Joshua vs Fury] but after he fights Dillian Whyte, he will fight Deontay Wilder in Saudi Arabia and then after that it has to be Tyson Fury. He turned down the Oleksandr Usyk fight, the biggest fight and most important fight in boxing to fight an MMA fighter who has never had a fight before in his life, also in Saudi Arabia."

The closest Joshua and Fury came to fighting was in August 2021 as the pair both signed their side of the contract, but an arbitration case got in the way of the fight and Fury was ruled to face Wilder for the third time. Hearn believes Fury can't call himself one of the greatest heavyweights ever unless he beats Usyk and Joshua.

"Tyson Fury cares about one thing only, the money. Don't talk to me about legacy or undisputed. He's beat [Wladimir] Klitschko and Wilder, that's his wins. He needs to beat Usyk and 'AJ' and then we can talk about him, as I believe he is, as one of the greatest heavyweights of all time. To go down as a modern day great and put yourself up with Ali, Lennox Lewis and Joe Frazier, he's got to beat Usyk and Anthony Joshua," he added.
