The all-new Galaxy Z Flip 5 is here and new shoppers can already make huge saving on the handset

Unveiling its flagship new smartphones to a crowd in South Korea, Samsung has launched the Galaxy Z Flip 5 handset. It's one of seven devices the tech firm launched at its Galaxy Unpacked event in Seoul and those who act quickly can get an unmissable upgrade for free.

The Z Fold 5, Galaxy Watch 6, Galaxy Watch 6 Classic and three devices in the Tap S9 range were unveiled today as Samsung makes a bold statement with its latest products. As the cheapest new foldable smartphone, all eyes are on the new Galaxy Z Flip 5.

It's now available to pre-order in a host of new colourways including the new Yellow, Mint and Green options, as well as two different storage sizes; the 256GB model and the 512GB model. And this is where one of the biggest money-saving deals comes in as shoppers can pre-order the bigger storage option for the price of the 256GB model.

Yes, that's right. Those who place an early-bird order on the new 512GB Z Flip 5 will pay the same price as the £1,049 256GB model, saving £100 and getting a whole lot more storage. This slashes the price to £29.14 a month as Samsung currently offers the cheapest price for its loyal shoppers.

Those who pay for the device early will receive it as soon as it officially launches in the UK, which is earmarked for Friday, August 11, that means shoppers have until August 10 to get the handset under the current deal before it raises to its usual £1,149 price tag.

The new foldable handset from the Galaxy brand has already seen a price increase from last year's £999 Z Flip 4 so many shoppers are likely to jump on the £100 saving, even if it is still £50 more than last year's Unpacked price.

That being said and the flagship Z Flip 5 handset has dropped with a wave of eye-watering features that'd make the price increase feel worth it. Starting off with its highly spoken about 'Flex Window' (Samsung's posh name for the 3.4-inch cover screen) which is 3.78 times larger than the previous generation. The device also comes with a new 'Flex Hinge' which gives a seamless touch to the flip device and allows it to fold shut without showing a chunky gap between the two halves of the screen.

There are some impressive camera updates too, with a larger flex window ideal for taking rear selfie camera, as actress Sydney Sweeney showcased at the event, and a new editing tool with the Flex Mode 10.

it's not being branded as a flagship model for no reason, as you can find more about in our full Samsung Galaxy roundup, with another glimpse at the Galaxy Watch 6 and Tab S9 new features too.

Now, let's get onto more of the money-saving offers. We know Samsung's got its shoppers covered but a host of UK retailers have added the line-up to their stock too. Sky Mobile, EE and O2 have all listed the new Z Flip 5 for its monthly contract customers.

Sky, O2 and EE deals on the Z Flip 5

All three networks are offering customers the same double storage deal as Samsung, but its monthly payment plans differ drastically.

Starting with EE who has launched the 512GB model for £70 a month (with an upfront of £30) and it includes a full unlimited data plan. At first glance, it may seem like a huge jump in price compared to Samsung but we have to remember the Galaxy provider's prices don't include any data connection hence the cheaper price.

EE shoppers can also get £576 off the device, and the adjacent data plan when they trade in any old handset.

O2's Z Flip 5 plans start from £48.30 a month for shoppers who are looking for 30GB of data to use each month with the new handset. Those who order before August 11 will also get the 512GB device for the price of the 256GB model.

Now we move on to Sky, another retailer to launch all of Samsung's new products to its stock. At first glance, monthly prices on the Z Flip 5 appear to be one of the cheapest, at £37 per month.

What shoppers don't see straight away is that Sky's prices don't include any data, just the handset. Customers will have to pay an extra £12 a month for 24GB of data or an extra £20 for the 100GB data plan. For a popular 100GB plan with the Z Flip 5 handset the monthly price would be £57, the same price as O2's Unlimited data plan on the Z Flip 5 model.
