Chris Kamara has joked it's time for the 'unbelievable' Jeff Stelling to 'carry him' - as speculation over a legendary reunion grows.
Stelling and Kamara worked alongside each other for many years on Soccer Saturday before the latter stepped down in May 2022. Stelling continued presenting the football results show for another 12 months before following Kamara out of the door.
Kamara is bravely battling apraxia of speech but continues to work, hosting Kammy & Ben's Proper Football Podcast alongside TV partner Ben Shephard. Yet he'd surely love the chance to work with his good friend Stelling again after his Sky Sports exit.
The feeling is mutual, with Stelling confessing as much during a recent interview with FourFourTwo. The iconic presenter was asked which of his former Soccer Saturday colleagues he would like to work alongside again... and the answer was clear.
"Kammy’s the obvious one," replied Stelling, who famously worked alongside Paul Merson, Phil Thompson, Charlie Nicholas and Matt Le Tissier on Soccer Saturday. "Although he’s not been well, I hope we’ll have the chance to work together again."
Red-faced Lorraine blindsided by raunchy texts from husband during live showKamara noticed Stelling's quotes and shared them on his Twitter feed. The legendary Soccer Saturday reporter added with laughing emojis: "Just to give Ben Shephard a break from carrying me, the unbelievable Jeff Stelling is about to take over."
It's unclear what Stelling's next presenting job will be at this stage. It's been claimed that he's set to take over from Laura Woods as the host of talkSPORT's breakfast show. Woods has left the radio station to host TNT Sports' Champions League coverage.

Stelling's replacement as Soccer Saturday host will be Simon Thomas, who was announced by Sky Sports earlier this month. "Wish him well," tweeted Stelling in response. "He is an excellent broadcaster and a very good person."
Stelling announced his decision to leave Soccer Saturday in April. He said: "It is Groundhog Day, that time of the year when I announce that I am leaving Sky Sports and Gillette Soccer Saturday. This time it is true.
"After 30 fantastic years on Sky, you lot out there have supported me, as have Sky, but it’s time to give you a break from all the VAR rants and bad gags and over the top celebrations when Hartlepool score a goal and give someone else the chance to do this fantastic job.
"So I’ll be leaving on May 28, we’ve got a few programs between now and then, this is the last six-hour Saturday Gillette Soccer Saturday... so we’d better get on with it!"
Kamara tweeted in response: "The best broadcaster I have ever met... Jeff has been a massive part of my life and I love him to bits. One of things I do miss working with the maestro. There will never be another. You are 'unbelievable Jeff' - and always will be."
