Terence Crawford and Errol Spence insist history is at stake in undisputed fight

Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr both think their undisputed world title fight will crown the best fighter in boxing.

Unbeaten world champions Crawford and Spence meet this Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The historic clash will crown the first undisputed welterweight champion of the four-belt era, as Crawford currently holds the WBO belt whilst Spence is the WBA, WBC and IBF champion.

The long-awaited fight was being discussed for years and a deal took months to negotiate with several pencilled-in dates being pushed back. Crawford has the chance to become a two-weight undisputed champion in the title clash as he vacated his four light-welterweights in 2018 for a move up in weight.

"It's going to be even sweeter to win the undisputed championship for the second time,” Crawford said. “That's why we take the chances we take. That's why we fight the way we fight. This is a fight that the world's been craving for. What better way to win a fight than going out and becoming undisputed.

Spence captured his first welterweight title over years ago by knocking out Kell Brook, adding a second belt to his collection two years later with a split decision win against Shawn Porter. Spence has only fought twice in the past three years, winning a decision against Danny Garcia in late 2020 and stopping Yordenis Ugas last April.
