The original The Exorcist film was so horrifying a number of countries banned it from the big screen or home sale.

The iconic 1974 horror movie had viewers shaking in their boots following its release - and now a new sequel is finally here.

Creators of The Exorcist: Believer released a first look at the new flick, with fans quick to respond to the scary upload. With the classic eery tune and terrifying moments throughout the three-minute teaser, viewers watched as more kids were possessed by the devil - just like five decades ago.

And just like over thirty years ago, fans are set to be left on the edge of their seats. One Twitter user wrote: "I am getting that classic feel here but more disturbing yea this gonna be a real good one here worth paying to see in theaters and to get on DVD after."

The storyline focuses on a man and his daughter. He had raised her as a single father since the death of his pregnant wife in a Haitian earthquake 12 years earlier.

However, the youngster and her friend Katherine disappear in the woods, only to return three days later with no memory of what happened to them. Their return unleashes a chain of events that will force the dad, Victor, to confront the nadir of evil and, in his terror and desperation, seek out the only person alive who has witnessed anything like it before - Chris MacNeil.

David Gordon Green's version of the frightening film hits the cinema in October - and yes, it lands on Friday 13.
