Kevin Clifton has put his foot down to declare that the baby daughter he shares with girlfriend Stacey Dooley will never follow him into the world of dance.

The 40-year-old former Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer is proud dad to seven-month-old Minnie, who he welcomed with 36-year-old Stacey back in January.

And while Kevin has made a name and career for himself in the world of dance, he says he won't allow his daughter to follow in his footsteps – arguing it is too competitive.

He makes the admission during the latest episode of Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over: Family And Me – the W channel documentary series that his girlfriend fronts and during which he occasionally appears.

He tells the cameras: “I don’t want Minnie to dance.” Dad Kevin argues that he is “scared” the world of dance would damage her “sense of self-worth“.

Kevin adds: “It’s too competitive a world. I would rather she do something else. Anything else.”

He could have an argument on his hands, however, as Stacey thinks their daughter has shown the early signs of having dancing talent – and that she has it in her genes.

The TV star, who fell for Kevin after being partnered with him and romping to victory on Strictly back in 2018, said: “I think she’s going to have rhythm because, of course, Kev can dance. I would love her to dance.”

While the duo might have differing views on Minnie's level of fame, it seems they want their baby girl to have full autonomy over how much time she spends in the spotlight.

Despite welcoming cameras into their London home and documenting their lives as first time parents, Kevin and Stacey have also vowed to keep their daughter out of the limelight.

Stacey clarified to the cameras that the wanted to protect Minnie's identity and vows only to allow the cameras to show the “back of her beautiful head”.

She explained further: “Me and Kev have had various conversations, you know – do we show Minnie?

“I want her to be able to give genuine consent. She’s not going to be in the limelight.”

Elsewhere in the documentary, Stacey and Kevin reveal they reached an emotional boiling point when the professional dancer accidentally knocked over a container of milk that the investigative journalist had expressed.

The star had produced 80 millilitres of milk for her daughter and left doting dad Kevin to pour it into a bottle – only for the milk to end up all over the floor.

Stacey recalls: “I heard what had gone on and I went, 'Ok. don't kick off, it wasn't deliberate.' And I just brought myself upstairs, got into bed and cried and cried and cried and cried.

“The pillow was wet. Because everything feels so massive. You know everything, your hormones are all over the shop. And I thought that's probably a slight overreaction.“
