Jurgen Klopp has suggested Liverpool's summer transfer business is far from done, despite the Reds spending around £100m already this window.

Alexis Mac Allister joined the Merseyside club from Brighton in June, with Dominik Szoboszlai following in a £60m move from RB Leipzig. However, with a number of midfielders moving on, there are still gaps in the squad.

James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita all saw their contracts expire, with two of the three already finding new clubs, while Arthur has returned to Juventus after an underwhelming loan. Now, with Fabinho and Jordan Henderson set for Saudi switches, there are clear gaps.

"There are so many things to do," Klopp told club media, explaining his main focus was training sessions but transfers remain a consideration. "The transfer window is open. If my day would have 28 hours at the moment it would not be a problem - I could fill them easily!

"Still three-and-a-half weeks until the first game of the season. A few things have to happen before then, definitely, transfer market-wise as well.

"That is clear now. And it will happen. New players have to come in. We will have a good team."

Liverpool's club captain Henderson is on his way to Dammam-based side Al Ettifaq, where he will link up with former Reds skipper and new Ettifaq manager Steven Gerrard. Fabinho, meanwhile, is close to completing a move to Al Ittihad.

Joao Palhinha, one of the midfielders linked with an Anfield move to help replace the pair, suffered an injury worry on pre-season duty for Fulham. Others mentioned as possible recruits include Southampton youngster Romeo Lavia, Real Madrid's Uruguay international Fede Valverde and Paris Saint-Germain's Marco Verratti, while Klopp could yet make tweaks in other positions ahead of a first season in the Europa League since 2015-16.

Klopp appreciated some might have questions after last season, when the Reds' slow start led them to finish fifth and miss out on Champions League qualification. "But, of course, the last years, nearly winning the quadruple but not doing it actually, and then having the season we had, that can create some doubt, I know that," he said.

"Then people want to change – on one day they want to change the team on 12 positions and then the next day only one. And then we change and then it's the wrong player, 'No, no, not him' and stuff like this.

"What I would like to ask for: trust us. We feel really responsible for what's happening here and we will do absolutely everything to have a season, in the best possible understanding, we will never forget. That's the plan."
