Ruben Dias makes promise to Jack Grealish’s mum after being sick in her handbag

Ruben Dias is planning to buy Jack Grealish’s mum a new handbag - after throwing up in her old one during Manchester City ’s treble celebrations.

Teetotal Dias paid the price for delivering on his promise of downing a couple of shots in front of his team-mates if the Blues completed a clean sweep of Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup. He immediately started feeling unwell and stuck his head behind a curtain to be sick - only for Kyle Walker to point out that Jack’s mum Karen had put her bag there for safe keeping.

Dias was mortified and quickly apologised while the rest of City’s players made the most of the Portuguese centre-back’s embarrassment. He was furious when keeper Ederson claimed he’d over-indulged on the booze celebrating City’s Champions League victory over Inter Milan in Istanbul.

But he has promised to replace Mrs Grealish's damaged handbag. A City insider said: “Ruben didn't have too much to drink - because he doesn’t actually drink alcohol.

“But he had promised the other players that he would down a couple of shots because winning the treble was such a special achievement.

“Unfortunately even that was too much for him to take. He felt unwell anyway because of all the travelling he had done over the weekend - and after drinking the first shot he started to feel a lot worse.

“Ruben didn’t feel any better when Kyle Walker pointed out that Jack’s mum had put her handbag behind the curtain! Now he’s back for pre-season he's going to buy her a new one.”

Grealish went on a 48-hour bender to celebrate City’s achievement - and has carried on partying throughout the summer. Some of City’s players jetted straight to Ibiza to keep the party going after returning to Manchester from Istanbul.
