Winning the lottery is the stuff of dreams for countless Brits who regularly enter - hoping the massive sums of money might one day land in their bank account.

However, realistically, the chances are incredibly slim of picking the right numbers and winning the cash.

One expert reckoned it was around a one in 45 million chance of winning, whilst another thought the odds were even worse, closer to one in 300 million.

But this doesn’t deter people from forking out to enter the EuroMillions weekly and waiting for those all important numbers to be called out.

It turns out that some of those numbers are more important than others.

The EuroMillions, which has some very big jackpots, is played across nine different European countries.

A recent study by bingo industry experts WDW Bingo analysed the results from all games during the 20 years since EuroMillions began, The Daily Record reported.

They discovered which numbers have been the most commonly drawn, and which ones don't come up as often.

Based on a total of 1,650 draws, it was found that 19 and 23 were the most common EuroMillions numbers to be selected.

Here are all the findings, which could be worth keeping in mind the next time you're putting your numbers in.

The experts also found that the most overdue number is 24, as it hasn't been drawn since March 7 this year. Twenty and 31 are also overdue for an appearance.

There are also many more people competing in the EuroMillions compared to other lottery games. But the UK has seen 125 jackpot winners, more than any other country, making up 22.7% of all winners.

Commenting on the findings, a spokesperson for WDW Bingo said: "With so much money on the line, it’s easy to question how random the numbers picked are, so in this study, it’s interesting to see the huge difference in frequency between the most and least commonly picked numbers.”
