McFly have revealed all on what's next for them ahead of their upcoming tour, following the release of their new album Power to Play.

The group, who formed in 2003 before releasing their debut single a year later, released their seventh studio album in June, their first in three years. Band members Tom Fletcher Danny Jones, Harry Judd and Dougie Poynter are heading back out on tour too very soon.

The quartet confessed they were excited to be back doing more intimate gigs again, after a number of arena tours in the past. Danny said the group "appreciated" touring a lot more now than when they were younger, as Harry shared how it was different making music 20 years on.

But the band, who took some time away from music before reforming in 2019, have no plans to call it a day anytime soon, with Power to Play just the beginning. Harry confirmed that more new music was likely in the pipeline, with the group hoping to write more tracks as they reunite for their long upcoming tour.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Dougie, Harry, Danny and Tom teased what was ahead while also teasing 'McFly Junior' was well and truly happening - with their kids following in their musical footsteps.

On the plans for more music, Harry revealed: "Yes, definitely. Now it's very different making music as we have families and other things going on, so we have to plan it out now.

"Back in the day we'd just write music the whole time together. Now it's harder so you have to schedule it all a bit more, but being on tour we might do some writing."

The group also talked about preferring smaller, more intimate venues. As Danny confessed to not liking the fans being too far away during performances, Harry said: "Having that connection with the audience is special and we're looking forward to it a lot."

On choosing smaller venues for their upcoming tour, Harry went on: "I think the style we went with with the album, it fit with those venues better. Our last tour we did was arenas and we wanted to go back to playing some sweaty rock shows, and have standing and it means you can go on tour for longer."

The Voice Kids coach Danny also discussed the "energy" being different now to their first tours starting out, saying the band "feeds off" it with Harry adding they "enjoy it more" now.

Then there's mini McFly, or McFly Junior as Tom calls them. Tom's sons Buzz, Buddy and Max are often performing tracks on his social media pages, no doubt inspired by their dad and 'uncles'.

Buzz and Buddy have also been performing live on stage in front of large audiences on occasion, with Tom inviting the youngsters to join him during recent gigs.

It's safe to say they've won over McFly fans, with Tom admitting he often sees audience members staring straight past him and watching the new generation of McFly instead.

Tom spilled: "The kids try to come to every show. The boys build each other up. Buddy wanted to go out on the last show. Buzz wasn't up for it, he got nervous.

"Buddy was like come on dude, we'll rock it. I was trying to be like Buddy, if he's not feeling it it's ok, but he was like 'Come on Buzz!'. Once he'd gone on he loved it, and he stood on the side of the stage with his guitar. All the people were looking past me at him for the whole show."

Harry teased the boys had some competition, as his own kids wanted in on the action too. On son Kit, he revealed: "It's hard explaining to a five year old why he can't come to a show, he doesn't understand why he can't be there," adding he too believed there was a new generation of McFly forming.

He also confessed his daughter Lola was desperate to audition on The Voice Kids UK to see if her dad's bandmate Danny would realise it was her performing.

It follows the band making a surprise appearance at Pizza Express Dean Street earlier this month, for a secret and intimate gig. The group performed at the iconic venue, of which musical legends including Amy Winehouse and Van Morrison have performed, as part of the chain's new mission to fill the UK streets with music this summer.

From Five Colours In Her Hair and Star Girl to Obviously, the boys belted out some of their classic hits leaving their audience thrilled. Long-time fans were pretty excited to hear some of their older tracks, including Surfer Babe, Too Close For Comfort and Broccoli.

With a series of al fresco performances nationwide, Pizza Express have launched their new campaign Summer Sessions - which kicked off with McFly's secret set.

The campaign sets out to celebrate Britain's best musical talent, encouraging more live music alongside the tasty treats the restaurant has to offer.
