Top Tory Michael Gove hit the dancefloor in an Aberdeen nightclub where he was spotted throwing shapes to a disco classic.

The Levelling Up Secretary was spotted grooving to Donna Summer's hit 'I Feel Love' at Club Tropicana in the early hours of the morning.

Clad in a blue shirt and dark trousers, Mr Gove was seen shaking his hips and trying to whirl a woman around on the dancefloor.

The 55-year-old, who grew up in Aberdeen, was thought to be visiting family in the Scottish city when he went on the solo night out on Saturday.

The club posted on its Facebook page: "Another HUGE weekend at Club T. We even had Michael Gove in cutting some serious shapes."

It ranked Mr Gove in its 'Clubber of the Week', meaning the Cabinet Minister could win VIP entry, reserved seating and a bottle of his choice to drink if he gets the most votes.

One reveller told The Sun: “He appeared a bit tipsy but not drunk and was clearly having a good time.

"Some recognised him but a lot didn’t know who he was and just let him get on with it.

“After a while this girl went to chat with him and they had a dance together. It was all a bit of innocent fun.”

Nightclub photographer Rebecca McGregor, 26, said: “I was at a job nearby when my mum who works in Club Tropicana texted me to say Michael Gove MP was in.

“I went round and took a picture of him.

"He took a few selfies with customers and stayed until the end so I take it he was enjoying himself.”

It's not the first time the top Tory has stunned clubbers with his late night partying.

In 2021, he was spotted raving to jungle and techno beats in a suit on another solo night out in Aberdeen.

The Tory Minister showed up at O'Neill's Bar at 1.15am during a summer trip to visit family.

Punters urged him to join them upstairs at nightclub Bohemia, where another clubber said he stayed until at least 2.30am.

The doorman claimed the Cabinet minister, who earns £149,437 a year, tried to avoid paying the £5 entry fee by boasting he was the “Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster”.

But a friend of Mr Gove denied the claim, and said he would never have used his job title to dodge an entry fee.

The friend added: "He loves Aberdeen and its nightlife."

Mr Gove was then filmed dancing enthusiastically to what the club described as "an unpredictable mix of the most high energy UK and global club music scenes".

Singer Emma Lament told the Record at the time: “He really was enjoying himself, I don't think he left the dancefloor the whole time I was there.

"People were buying him drinks but were also joking that he should be getting the rounds after he racked up £100,000 in expenses last year.

"Nobody else ever appeared, he was by himself."

She added: "This was the last thing I expected to see on a Saturday night in Aberdeen."
