Ryan Giggs could get a route back to football in the cash-drenched Saudi Arabian league.

A Middle East footie expert reckons the former Manchester United ace would be welcomed in the Gulf, despite the allegations he was acquitted of in a court case which ended last week.

The 49-year-old was told domestic violence charges had been dropped – but any move to a British club as he looks to rebuild his career is likely to spark controversy. However, Wael Jabir says Giggs could now join other big Premier League names, like Roberto Firmino, in the Saudi league.

“I think he would be a welcome addition,” he said. “Being coached by these top European players will help raise the league to the next level.”

Giggs – English footie’s most decorated player – is said to be “deeply relieved” the charges were withdrawn and keen to get back to work.

He was accused of assault and using controlling or coercive behaviour towards ex Kate Greville but she declined to give evidence against him.

The jury in the original case last year failed to reach verdicts. Reaction to Giggs is likely to be less hardline in Saudi Arabia – accused of having some of the world’s most draconian restrictions on women’s rights.
