EastEnders viewers think they might know who the killer is, ahead of a shocking murder on the BBC soap.

Christmas Day will see a mystery man murdered by a female character, while details have yet to be fully exposed.

The bombshell was dropped in a special flashforward clip that aired on Monday night, in a twist that has never been done on the BBC show before.

It's known that someone dies this Christmas and that they are killed in a shocking sequence of events, and now fans think they know who the culprit is.

Six characters were shown stood around a mystery dead body, with one of them tipped to be the killer - and there were a number of clues in the clip.

Suki Panesar, Stacey Slater, Kathy Beale, Denise Fox, Sharon Watts and Linda Carter are the suspects, while it is not known who dies as of yet - just that it is a male character.

It's hinted the character could be a groom or a wedding guest, as they are wearing a suit and cufflinks.

The clip heavily hinted at two characters being the killer, as Stacey was seen covered in blood and shaking while Denise was holding a broken champagne bottle.

But viewers think this is all a red herring and that neither character is going to be the killer.

Others have questioned if the killer is someone not in the clip, and if all six women are innocent - while there is also speculation that all six of them are involved.

In the scene, Linda has a cut lip and is seen returning from the back room, while Sharon is wearing a bloodied wedding dress and declares the man is dead.

Kathy's dress looks ripped and she is shown giving Suki a concerned look, while Suki has to sit down clearly in shock over what has happened.

Viewers think the victim could be Nish Panesar, Phil Mitchell or Keanu Taylor, or perhaps former characters Ryan Malloy or Dean Wicks - both having made returns of sorts recently.

With all of this considered, viewers are now convinced they know who the killer is and that it might not be Stacey or Denise.

Three names have cropped up as being the killer according to viewers' theories, and two of them aren't even in the scene.

While Kathy is hotly tipped to be the murderer, others are also speculating Shirley Carter or even 12-year-old Lily Slater will be the killer.

If the victim is Dean, fans think his mother Shirley will kill him or maybe Kathy will to protect Linda. If the victim is Ryan, fans think Lily will accidentally kill him after his plan to have Lily and her baby stay with him at Christmas.

Taking to Twitter, one fan said: "The Killer is Kathy," as another said: "Body - Dean & Killer - Shirley."

A third fan added: "Ryan is the body and Lily is the killer folks. You heard it here first."

Meanwhile one fan questioned if there was more than one killer, as they tweeted: "Its like murder on the orient Express....they all done it."

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
