When is Black Friday 2023?

Black Friday usually takes place on the last Friday of the November month. For 2023, Black Friday will fall on Friday, November 24, 2023.

The event usually runs across the weekend into Monday, meaning Saturday, November 25 and Sunday, November 26 will also be part of the sale period. As seen over the past two years, many retailers including the likes of Amazon, Sky and more, launch their Black Friday sale landing pages on their websites days before, sometimes even a week ahead of the sale.

In 2022, Black Friday fell on Friday, November 22, 2022, although the sales often began early and lasted through to the following week. The event is also usually followed by Cyber Monday.

When is Cyber Monday 2023?

Cyber Monday typically falls on the immediate Monday after the Black Friday sale, so this year it will fall on Monday, November 27, 2023. The 24-hour online shopping event usually focuses on tech deals but over the years more retailers, like those in the fashion and beauty industry, have also offered exclusive deals and discounts on this date too.

Traditionally, Black Friday comes one day after the American Thanksgiving holiday that takes place on the fourth Thursday in November. This means Cyber Monday will always fall between November 26th and December 2nd, depending on the year.

Cyber Monday is often a bigger event than Black Friday in the UK, as retailers pack their websites with oodles of offers until midnight.

Which retailers are expected to take part in Black Friday 2023?

The majority of retailers in the UK take part in the Black Friday sale, including UK supermarkets with discounts slashed in selected sections of stores, for example Asda often has discounts in George, and Tesco double up their offers for Clubcard members.

Amazon is one of the biggest online retailers to take part in the sale, and depending what you're looking for, there's also impressive deals at the likes of Currys, Sky, BT, Boots, PrettyLittleThing and more, to name just a few.

Shoppers tend to shop online more for the Black Friday sales in the UK, with queues mainly seen outside malls in the US, but that's not to say it doesn't happen at all here. The likes of the Apple store and Next often have shoppers queuing from early in the morning, especially if they have hot products reduced for considerably less.

  • Make a shopping list and stick to it - then you'll only buy what you actually need, not what you're tempted to buy. Bookmarking the product pages on major retailer websites now can also help you easily track them down on the day.
  • Research - websites like PriceSpy and CamelCamelCamel give you historical data on prices so you can see the best deal. Work out whether that product you want is actually cheaper or just 'cheaper' in the eyes of the seller.
  • Follow - get following your favourite brands on social media, and sign up to email alerts so you can be one of the first to know when the launch their Black Friday sales.
  • Cashback - sites like TopCashback often launch offers that go alongside existing sales, for example if there is already discounts on an Amazon device, the site might also have an extra offer for money back when buying Amazon products.
