Shocking footage captures the moment a Just Stop Oil activist was punched to the floor and kicked on the ground by the partner of a pregnant woman after a car crash.

Daniel Knorr, 21, is seen in graphic footage being thrown to the floor in the capital. The student has previously been carried off the pitch at Lords by England cricketer Johnny Bairstow following a further protest.

A silver Mercedes is first captured being pulled halfway across a road, having apparently crashed. A woman then leaves the car and screams "Stop now, I'm pregnant", before a man gets out and confronts the protesters, screaming: "Stop now, stop recording, you little s***."

And the man is then filmed appearing to punch Mr Knorr in the face before stamping and kicking him while he lies prone on the ground.

The footage has been widely shared on social media today.

Just Stop Oil said: "Daniel was assaulted while marching this morning, and remained nonviolent throughout. Disruption is difficult, but it's necessary."

Mail Online reports Mr Knorr, a Biochemistry student from Oxford, hasn't and doesn't intend to contact police about what happened near in the Kensington area of the capital.

Speaking after the incident, he told the publication: "I haven't said anything to the police and I don't plan to, but I'm afraid that the police might go after this man.

"I feel no ill sentiment or ill will against him. It's a difficult situation for anyone to be in and it's bound to create frustration. He was very stressed."

It is unclear if anyone was injured in the initial car accident, understood to have happened on the A4, a busy main road through west London into the heart of the capital. Witnesses suggested the man blamed the prang on the protest, one of several in the capital today.

The witness added: "The whole episode was insane. I'm not sure why they were so angry but I suspect they blamed the protest for causing the prang."

Department for Energy Security for Net Zero was also targeted in a separate demonstration today, while other activists gathered at Marylebone Road, Parliament Square, and Westminster Bridge.

In a short statement, Just Stop Oil said: "This morning, two supporters of Just Stop Oil have painted the department responsible for issuing over 100 new oil and gas licences in the UK."

Around 200 members of the group took part in a slow-march on Monday, which saw them demonstrate on bridges and busy roads through the capital. Some held bright orange banners as they marched, and all appeared to be wearing hi-vis jackets.

And protestors ran on to the stage during the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall on Friday last week. The activists unfurled an orange banner and attempted to address the audience before they were removed from the stage.
