Coronation Street fans go wild as they recognise newcomer Darren from Heartbeat

Coronation Street fans have gone wild after recognising newcomer Darren Vance after he made his debut on the ITV soap on Monday.

Soap watchers will recall that businessman Darren arrived in Weatherfield earlier this week and it wasn't long until Dev Alahan was trying to network with the entrepreneur.

During Monday's episode, Dev and son Aadi Alahan enjoyed a spot of golf with Darren before having a lunch to discuss business.

However, despite positioning himself as an ideal investor, Darren shut down the opportunity due to Dev being unable to access his capital immediately.

But in a twist, Darren then asked Aadi, who is set to have an affair with Darren's wife in upcoming scenes, to be his "right hand man" and to help him out with his ongoing business and investments.

Later in the episode, Dev told Aadi his plans to become an investor, revealing he's going to remortgage everything in order to get the cash as it would be "worth it in the long run".

However, soap watchers were left distracted during the scenes as they instantly recognised Darren star Ryan Early from Heartbeat.

Ryan, 44, played PC Tom Nicholson from 2001 until 2002. The actor's other credits include The Bill, Emmerdale, Casualty and The Archers, where he played Lee Bryce from 2021 to 2023.

Taking to social media, one person said: "Loved seeing @RyanJPEarly back on my screen making his debut in tonight’s #corrie, looking forward to seeing more Darren Vance and I can’t wait to see Stephanie Davis make her debut as Courtney Vance in Wednesdays episode, have a feeling this storyline is going to be good."

A different account put: "@RyanJPEarly Loving you already on @itvcorrie , but you'll always be PC Tom Nicholson to me on @TvHeartbeat."

Another viewer wrote: "Remember Ryan being in Heartbeat years and years ago!" with a different soap watcher adding: "Ryan was so funny in Heartbeat... great actor."

It remains to be seen what happens with Darren but it is known that Aadi is set for a steamy affair with Darren's wife Courtney Vance (Steph Davis) in upcoming scenes.

It comes as Courtney actress Steph, 30, teased what fans can expect from the new character, as she shared her hopes to stick around on the ITV soap.

She told The Mirror and other press: "There's definitely loads of layers there. I can tell by how she is, she references her mum in some scenes. Only little references but you can tell she's not had a great life.

"She's met Darren, he has loads of money and she has probably settled for that for a good lifestyle, but there is no love there. Courtney in nutshell is longing to be loved."
