Sir Rod Stewart and his wife Penny Lancaster looked carefree and relaxed as they soaked up the sun in Spain.

The 78-year-old singer, who married Penny in 2007, rocked a classic linen shirt and shorts as he lounged on a patio chair with his other half.

He protected his eyes from the blistering sun in sunglasses as he enjoyed the views of a Marbella beach.

Meanwhile, in one snap, Penny held up her phone as she took a photo of her surroundings.

The model and TV personality, 52, seemed at ease as she leaned back on the seat while rocking a one-piece swimsuit.

At one point, Penny hovered her legs above the ground as she closed her eyes to top up her tan.

His day out on the beach came ahead of his concerts at the Plaza de Toros de Murcia this evening and at the Starlite Marbella on Friday.

Following his gigs in Spain, the rocker is heading to the USA to perform in Nevada, Colorado, Arizona, California and more.

He only recently wrapped up his 40-date tour that ended in Edinburgh, Scotland, earlier this month.

In June, Sir Rod admitted retirement isn't 'in his blood' as he discussed his constant touring around the world.

It had been reported that Rod's eight children were 'worried' and wanted him to focus on his 'family and health'

The singer, renowned for his energetic stage performances, overcame knee surgery in 2022 and battled prostate cancer in 2016 and thyroid cancer in 2000.

The hitmaker's brood were said to have urged him to think about "retiring on his own terms now" so that he can spend time focusing on being a father and grandfather.

Speaking about the end of his 40-date tour, Rod said: "I’m not retiring though. I couldn’t do that, it’s in my blood," the rocker confirmed during an appearance on the Chris Evans Virgin Radio show this week.

"I’m moving on. I’ve made an album with Jools Holland, and it’s a swing album. I’m not retiring, I just want to give the rock ‘n’ roll a rest for a while. Not that I’m tired, physically, of it. It’s just another challenge.”

He went on to discuss how he feels about touring, adding: “I’ve never considered it a job. The only downside to it is when I’m away from all my kids…. and the downtime during the day, which I overcome. I take my railway equipment, my model railway stuff, and I have a project and I build it on the road.”
