Cabin crew members have named the foods which you should always eat on a plane, to save you from post-flight grogginess.

Unfortunately their recommendations don’t include chocolate, crisps or biscuits - it’s healthier foods that are best when you’re 30,000ft high.

reported that aeroplane crew staff recommended foods that are low in salt, in order to keep your energy up and “puffiness”.

Dried fruits and nuts are high on the list along with fresh vegetables including carrots and celery sticks - high fibre and protein foods will keep you feeling fresh.

The best proteins to bring along are foods such as hard-boiled eggs and fish - although that depends on your willingness to catch dirty looks from fellow passengers.

Budget airline cabin crew member Michael Rice recommends bananas - but don’t go overboard with them, he warns.

“When you are first starting out, you may pack, like, six bananas. By the time you land, they're all brown or black,” he explained.

Former flight attendant of six years Kat Kamalani shared a comprehensive selection of advice for how to approach the mid-flight hunger pangs.

In a TikTok video, she explains her “travel hacks” whether “travelling for business, my family, vacation or work.”

First of all, bring an insulated bag for your food - and stick an ice pack in there to keep everything fresh.

“I always make sure I bring veggies and a piece of fruit,” she adds. Always bring a water bottle as well and make sure you stay hydrated.

“Next, I always have to have something that curbs my sweet tooth when travelling. I love these SkinnyDipped travel packs, and I love that they're full of clean ingredients.”

Kat agrees with Michael that protein and fibre is the way to go for flights.

“I love to travel with protein items like these protein balls,” she continued, “I also never leave the house without my protein waffles, because they're so fulfilling and nourishing.”

Other recommendations include avoiding pasta, bread rolls and sandwiches - carb heavy foods don’t help with jet lag and can leave you feeling lethargic.
