The Last Leg presenters had an epic reaction to a team of Just Stop Oil protestors who interrupted the live recording of the Channel 4 show on Friday.

As the protestors made their way onto the set, host Adam Hills stuck his hands up in the air and began to cheer before being handed an orange hi-vis jacket.

"This is not part of the show," Adam remarked as the protestors handed out identical jackets to The Last Leg stars Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker.

One of the protestors ran over to Adam and gave him a hug which the host fully embraced. "I'm William," the Just Stop Oil protestor said as the host replied: "Hi William."

Channel 4 crew members then began to escort the protestors off the set, interrupting the hilarious moment.

"Some tweeting they're not sure if the Just Stop Oil protest part of the show - not even our audience sure," host Adam admitted later in the show. "It was," he reiterated. Comedian Josh then joked: "I would have just looked as pathetic even if it was."

“The hosts honestly took it in good stride and were sort of positive about it,” one Twitter user wrote at the moment aired on Channel 4. Another added: “The #LastLeg boys dealt with it with good grace. Which is a lesson to many.”

A third viewer added more praise for the TV stars, tweeting: “Thing is @TheLastLeg makes some great, hard-hitting points, drawing attention to many vital issues, and now there’s less time for those on tonight’s show. Well done @adamhillscomedy for remaining so calm.”

Meanwhile, the opening night of the BBC Proms was interrupted by two protesters from Just Stop Oil, who set off confetti cannons and sounded air horns.

The protesters attempted to address the audience at the Royal Albert Hall on Friday, drawing boos from the crowd, before being removed from the stage.

The environmental group, known for its recent disruptive protests at events including Wimbledon, said the action came in response to “underwhelming” coverage of climate change by the BBC.

“Two Just Stop Oil supporters have ran onto the stage at the @RoyalAlbertHall on the opening night of the @bbcproms,” Just Stop Oil tweeted, following the incident.“The pair set off confetti cannons and sounded air horns, demanding the UK Government immediately halt all new oil and gas consents and licences. They attempted to address the audience before being forcibly removed. Tonight’s action comes in response to the BBC’s underwhelming coverage of the climate emergency.

“In recent weeks, the BBC has been accused of ‘false balance’ as well as uncritically regurgitating government and oil company propaganda.”

In response to the incident, Culture Secretary Lucy Frazer tweeted: “Eco zealots shouldn’t disrupt sports events, weddings or the Proms. My message is this: Leave people to enjoy the events they love, and stop damaging your own cause.”
