Roman Kemp left redfaced as mum Shirlie jokes doctors struggled to find 'willy'

Roman Kemp often shares insights into his rather personal life on Celebrity Gogglebox but nothing could have prepared him for his mum's admission.

The radio DJ was joined by his mum, Shirlie Kemp, of Wham fame on his Capital FM Breakfast programme where she didn't hold back while sharing some intimate stories

Roman, 30, was left horrified after the former singer divulged details about his manhood which apparently caused issues when he was born in 1993. The star who is the son of Shirlie and Spandau Ballet singer Martin Kemp was born in Los Angeles and it appears Californian medical staff didn't know what to do.

Shirlie said: "When you were born, which was in America 1993, I remember it well. We were so excited, Dad and I was so excited... Didn't know if we were having a boy or girl or... just so happy to have another baby.

"But the hospital staff took you away for quite a long time. And we were getting really really worried... all because they said there was a problem finding your willy."

Roman's co-stars Sian Welby and Chris Stark instantly burst into fits of laughter as Roman placed his head in his hands out of embarrassment. However, Roman managed to get one back when he revealed to Shirlie that while he was home alone as a teen, a pal gave a strip tease to their friends before sliding down the bannister completely naked – before it snapped.

"We had to super glue the bannisters back together," he said before adding: "Albeit them quite soiled and you've touched that bannister for quite some time," as his mum exclaimed: "Oh my God!"

But while he may be the son of two famous musicians, Shirlie explained that Roman's friends only visited his house while growing up for one reason. Shirlie explained: "Let's be honest about this, the only reason your mates used to really come over to the house, was because they fancied me!"

This proved to be too much for Roman as he exclaimed: "No, shut up!" before throwing his headphones off in horror.

But Roman is no stranger to explicit conversations with his family and he recently revealed he had grilled his dad Martin over aging and pubic hair. Speaking to Express.co.uk, he said: "My attention is really poor and it means that my brain wants to ask lots of different questions and sometimes those ones lead to very ridiculous and quite gross answers. The other week I asked my dad, 'At what point do your pubes go grey?' And he always says, 'Why are you asking me that?' And I say, 'Because I want to know. I am you!'

"My body is going to do the same as your body so help me out. So that's a real conversation we will have and if it makes people laugh that's fine."
