Robert De Niro's girlfriend Tiffany suffered 'complication' after giving birth
Robert De Niro's girlfriend Tiffany Chen revealed she suffered a "postpartum complication" following the birth of their daughter.
The actor, 79, and martial arts instructor Tiffany, 45, welcomed their daughter Gia, who is now three months old, in April. The newborn is De Niro's seventh child.
Tiffany will open up about the family in a new interview with presenter Gayle King for CBS Mornings, which is scheduled to be broadcast later this week. A teaser for it states: "[Tiffany] reveals a postpartum complication to @GayleKing, speaking exclusively to CBS Mornings for her first interview since giving birth."
Part of the interview is set to air later today on CBS, whilst the full interview is scheduled to be broadcast on Friday. Robert had announced the birth of his seventh child whilst promoting his film About My Father in May. He shared the news during an interview with ET Canada at the time.
It came after the interview remarked: "I know you have six kids." Robert subsequently corrected them by revealing: "Seven, actually." He then confirmed: "I just had a baby". Shortly afterwards, broadcaster Gayle shared the newborn's name on CBS Mornings, revealing that she had been named Gia Virginia Chen-De Niro by her parents.
Serena Williams finally breaks silence on Will Smith Oscar slap one year onGayle told viewers at the time that she'd spoken to Robert prior to the episode and a photo of his baby was shared whilst she further discussed the newborn. She said: "[Gia] weighed eight pounds and six ounces when she was born on April 6. [Robert] and his partner, that's Tiffany Chen, are over the moon about this little girl."
Robert already had six children prior to the newborn's arrival. His family includes Drena De Niro, 51, who is his adopted daughter from his marriage to Diahnne Abbott. The broadcast of Tiffany's interview on CBS Mornings comes following the news earlier this month that Drena's son Leandro De Niro Rodriguez had died, aged just 19.
Robert and Tiffany are said to have attended the funeral in New York City last week following his grandson's death, which the actor had recently stated had left him "deeply distressed". The couple met when he was working on the film The Intern (2015) and have now been together for eight years.
