Jonah Hill has been accused by his ex-girlfriend, Sarah Brady, of alleged "controlling behaviour".

She has claimed that he is a "misogynist" after allegedly sending her a list of demands and rules for her to abide by in the relationship. Brady posted screenshots of the messages alleged to be from Hill, where she says among other things, he barred her from "surfing with men," despite Brady's job being a surf instructor.

Multiple times throughout the alleged messages, it says Hill refers to these points as his "boundaries." However, Niki Davis-Fainbloom, a sex educator and intimacy expert, has said that this would not be an example of setting healthy boundaries.

Davis-Fainbloom, also known as Miss Bloom, said: "We make boundaries to make us feel safe and give others a clear understanding of what folks in our lives can expect from us. Boundaries are not meant to control others' freedom."

Davis-Fainbloom asserts that Hill has used the word boundaries as a guise for an attempt to control Brady. According to her, attempting to control your partner's behaviour is never okay in a relationship.

She explains: "That is simply not how boundaries work, and seems to be more a case of him trying to control his partner's autonomy and behavior [sic] which is never okay."

According to the screenshots, Hill allegedly took issue with a variety of Brady's normal behaviours, including ones that focused on modesty. He appears to have discouraged her from modelling and posting pictures in her bathing suit. Plus, he reportedly asked her not to maintain friendships with "women who are in unstable places" from her "wild recent past."

Hill allegedly texted Brady: "I'm tired of your attitude towards surf culture that contest and that place because I deserve respect [sic]."

After Brady made the messages public, she claims that Hill reached out for her, expressing his opposition to her actions. Brady shared those messages on her Instagram story. According to the message, he believes that he has always shown Brady "kindness and support."

Hill also apparently wrote in the messages: "Screenshotting intimate texts between us is a huge triggering violation for me and breach of trust as a friend."

The Internet has been divided on the issue with some people siding with Hill that these are a set of boundaries that he is entitled to set. Many, though, believe that these messages were motivated by sexism and misogyny. Davis-Fainbloom, though, clears up any misconceptions.

She provides the example: "You can make a boundary, 'If you drink more than two drinks, I will no longer want to hang out with you.' However, a boundary cannot be 'Don't you ever drink again.' The first example shares how someone will respond in a given situation to make them feel more safe and happy where the second example aims to control another behavior."

The messages Brady shared show him apparently discrediting another expert that has supposedly taken issue with his approach to the relationship.

Hill is said to have texted: "I love how your therapist thinks I suck. I literally am the best boyfriend on earth."

Brady posted on Instagram, asking for forgo hate comments against her. She states that those who do not keep their harsh thoughts to themselves "are repeating the same cycle" as her ex.
