Toni Hodgson, who previously appeared on The Jeremy Kyle Show, has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to drug dealing.

The 31-year-old appeared on the now-cancelled ITV show back in 2014, during a rather dramatic episode titled Daughters at War: Today I'll prove I'm their father!"

Since her stint on the programme, which was filmed in Manchester, Toni had various run-ins with the law but this came to an end on Tuesday, July 11, after she was sentenced to 30 months behind bars. Hull Crown Court heard that the mum-of-two was arrested on March 14, this year, for unrelated matters and was taken to Clough Road police station.

On the journey to the station, she laid down and threatened to damage the vehicle before kicking the seats. But as police officers attempted to remove her, she kicked one in the shin and then kicked another in the stomach.

Hodgson later attempted to headbutt another officer and claimed she had "broken another officer's jaw and would do it again". She then began to spit at police officers before punching one in the face – although nobody sustained serious injuries.

On April 19, police noticed Toni in Hull City Centre where she was searched. Officers from Humberside Police searched her and discovered 14 wraps of class A drugs in her jacket. She had seven wraps of heroin and seven wraps of cocaine on her.

Shortly after being arrested, her home was searched where officers found scales and other items to suggest Ms Hodgson had been dealing drugs. Her phone was also searched, which showed evidence of drug dealing.

Ben Hammerseley, mitigating, told the court that Toni had pleaded guilty straight away, but had no recollection of assaulting the police as she had taken drugs. He said: "My client played a lesser role. She was not getting paid as such but getting free drugs to feed her habit and to pay off debts. She knew who she was dealing to but had no knowledge of the wider operation.

"She accepts she has a disgusting record and, while it is no justification, she has suffered a number of recent tragedies. Her father died last year and she had just come out of a relationship involving domestic violence."

He went on to state that Hodgson's cousin was murdered just two months ago and she had also lost her brother through violence three years ago.

"She has expressed remorse towards the officers and would like to apologise for her disgusting behaviour," he said before continuing: "She is making the most of her time in prison, she is clean of drugs and is on a methadone programme, she is also seeking mental health support and she has taken English and maths classes.

"When she does get out, my client wants to get a job and see her two children. She does not want to get into a cycle of custody."

Meanwhile, judge Mark Bury urged Hodgson to turn her life around serving the sentence, saying: "I do not just take into account the harm of the assaults but the intention as well. You also spat, which is a disgusting thing to do, but I accept you did not spit at the officers. I also accept you were dealing drugs at a low level.

"I am pleased to see you have been reassessing your life while in prison and expressing aspirations for the future. While you are serving this sentence out you need to continue your rehabilitation.

"Once you have completed your sentence perhaps you can make a positive contribution to society, but that's your choice."

She was handed a sentence of 26 months in prison for each offence of possession with intent to supply both heroin and cocaine, which will run concurrently. She was also issued with another four months for each offence of assaulting a police officer. In total, she was handed 30 months behind bars.
