Mum forced to repaint pink front door - and she may have to change colour again
A woman claims she feels "bullied" over a new council probe into the colour of her front door after she was ordered to repaint it from pink.
Miranda Dickson, from Edinburgh, was told that she couldn’t have a pink door last January as it doesn’t fall within the UNESCO World Heritage site guidelines.
The 48-year-old first repainted it green which was also rejected by planning officers and she now claims it to be an “off-white” colour.
But Edinburgh Council has said it has received a new complaint that the door is back to pink colour.
It has led to a new investigation being launched with Ms Dickson having been told last year that she faced a £20,000 fine if she did not change the colour from pink.

She then had the door painted green (Katielee Arrowsmith SWNS)She said that she feels that she is being “bullied”.
Miranda told the BBC : "I am speechless that someone has complained about this colour as far as I was concerned this chapter in my life was closed. I'm shocked and distraught about it. It is definitely not the same colour as it was originally painted - it's an off-white. I feel bullied and that it has now become personal."
She also wrote on Instagram: "And just when I thought it was over. How is it possible my colour is not ok when there are many super bright doors in my street and area. Feels personal now.”
Miranda moved back to the UK two years ago after living in the USA for nine years and has been renovating her parents' old home which is a three-storey Georgian house in the Scottish city's New Town area.
The green colour was also rejected by planning officers (Katielee Arrowsmith SWNS)She inherited the property from her parents and during the Covid lockdown undertook an 18-month revamp. Her final task in rejuvenating the home - a World Heritage conservation site where she grew up - was painting the front door bright pink in December 2021.
She continued: "It's not like my door is in a bad condition. It costs a lot of money to have the front door painted because they are very large. It's not a quick job. The council needs to act with more clarity over paint colour."
A City of Edinburgh Council spokesperson told The Mirror: “We have received a complaint alleging that the door has been repainted pink. We’re currently looking into this and so can’t say more at this time.”
Mirance previously said her street, Drummond Place, is popping with brightly coloured front doors, and compared it to Notting Hill or Bristol.
Miranda said: "There's cities in the UK like Bristol, Notting Hill and Harrogate which are brightly coloured. Coming home and seeing my front door gives me joy, I'm proud of it. It's my house, I own it."
