Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe has rejected claims over a tense relationship between him and Neymar amid an apparent dig towards the Brazilian in the past week.

The French giants are in the midst of a poor run of form having lost three consecutive games in all competitions to Marseille, Monaco and Bayern Munich. All did not seem well between the club’s illustrious forward players after Mbappe appeared to take aim at his teammate with some intriguing comments following defeat by Bayern in the Champions League

Speaking to Canal+, he said: “We have to look at the end of the game, we were disadvantaged but we managed to cause them issues. We’re going over there [Munich] to qualify.

"We worked day and night. Our players have to be in good health for the return leg, everyone needs to eat and sleep well. They’re not comfortable when we play attacking football.”

Following a dramatic 4-3 win against Lille on Sunday, Mbappe has clarified those comments and insisted that he was not taking aim at Neymar. As quoted by Prime Video, the French striker said: “I saw people talking about Ney, about what happened.

“It wasn’t a dig against Neymar. In the situation, a dig is the last thing we need. It really was a piece of advice for everyone.

“Because, like I said, when we have everyone available, as was the case at the start of the match, the opposition can be worried. I hope Ney comes back quickly because he’s a vital player for us.”

Mbappe and Neymar were on the scoresheet against Lille, with Lionel Messi netting a stoppage-time winner for Christophe Galtier’s men. However, there was some concerning news for the Ligue 1 leaders after Neymar was taken off the pitch on a stretcher following an ankle injury.

PSG confirmed that the forward has undergone further testing on the issue and has managed to avoid a fracture, whilst he will also continue to be monitored. A club statement read: “Victim of a sprained ankle during the match against Lille, Neymar underwent an MRI today.

“This does not reveal a fracture. A new ligament assessment will be carried out in 48 hours.”

The French giants will hope that Neymar is fit for a key run of fixtures over the next few weeks. They take on title-rivals Marseille next weekend before a showdown with Nantes.

Bayern are then their next opponents, with PSG needing to overturn a 1-0 deficit at the Allianz Arena after Kingsley Coman’s winning goal in Paris in midweek. Neymar has been in sensational form for PSG this season, with 18 goals and 17 assists in just 29 appearances in all competitions.
